A few days later, Emiri woke up and made her way towards the girls bath's. The sun was just barely setting, and not many of the girls were up at this time so she had some privacy to get ready in the morning, without any prying eyes. Sure, she had a private shower in her dorm, but every now and then it was always good to get a peaceful soak in the tub.
As she sat in the water, she sunk down until it just barely covered her mouth, a few bubbles drifting to the surface as she let out a small breath. Her mind wondered towards the events that had happened just the week before. The kidnapping, the rescue, All Might's final battle, All For One's arrest. The new quirk. Everything happened so suddenly and she had just barely began to process it all.
When she first entered U.A, she only had one goal. Relay information to Shigaraki and All For One and survive without being caught. Everything seemed so simple but now... she had gotten to know everyone in this class and they... they weren't bad people. No- they were far from it. They were all going to become heroes and save people, what was she going to be?
Did she even have a choice?
She reached up and placed her hand in the middle of her chest, no matter how long she held her hand there, no matter how much she pressed down, there was nothing. The blood running through her veins was moving artificially, an internal healing quirk that allowed her to live. The only reason her nonbeating heart hadn't made it to the concern of her parents was all thanks to All For One's doctor, Ujiko. The same doctor that had been there for each and every one of her check ups.
"You want to be a hero, don't you?" A voice said, and an image of her brothers face appeared in her head. A memory that had long since been clouded.
"I don't want to be a hero!" A young Emiri responded, she couldn't of been any older than six. She was sitting in her bed, the light from the summer day streaming in through her window into her room, lighting up every corner of it and filling it with warmth.
"You don't?" Toshiaki asked, before leaning forwards and pouting slightly, "Don't you wanna be like mommy and daddy? And like your bwig bwother?"
"Nuh-uh!" Emiri said, closing her eyes and shaking her head. She sneaked one eye open to see that Toshiaki was still pouting, she opened both her eyes and grinned, "I want to be better! I want to be the greatest hero there ever was!" She flexed her arms- despite the fact that what little muscle was on them had deteriorated long ago.
Toshiaki looked at her, his eyes showing an emotion that, back then, Emiri hadn't noticed. A look of pity. It was a look she had seen often growing up, almost every adult she had met shared that same look.
"You know what, I think you might just do that." Toshiaki said, a smile on his face as he reached forwards and placed a hand on top of her head. "You'll get stronger than me in no time."
Emiri grinned, before a pressure hit her chest and she started coughing. Toshiaki rushed and grabbed her a tissue, pressing it against her mouth and patting her back as she coughed. Once she was done, Toshiaki pulled it away and glanced at the contents. speckles of red blood soaked into the white tissue. Before Emiri recovered from her fit, he quickly threw it in the waste bin.
"I'll get stronger, I just have to get better first! Just you wait, Toshi, I'll be as strong as you and mommy, and daddy!"
She was dying back then, she had overheard it while she was supposed to be sleeping. Her parents weren't exactly the quietest when they had late night conversations in her doorway, having returned from a day's work.
"The development of her quirk seemed to of sped up the process." Her mother had said, pale blue eyes looking down at the sleeping figure of her young daughter.
