The second day of their study group went by much like the first, except for practical training. As Emiri had said the day before they were going to do some one on one battle training. The fights would be similar to the ones in the Sports Festival— the only difference being that they only had to push their opponent out of bounds within a certain amount of time- incapacitating the opponent was forbidden. To make sure everyone could go before the sun went down the time limit was 10 minutes for each match. After each match, Emiri they would go over what they could improve on before going into the next match.
The night before Emiri had set up a few pairs on who would struggle against each other, she ended up with a lineup that she was quite proud of.
Match 1: Yaoyorozu vs. Kaminari
This battle went by just as Emiri thought it would. Momo created objects to draw in Kaminari's electricity and managed to keep away from him as he tried to get close to her. Eventually she managed to trip him while he was near the boundary line and win the match.
"I did it!" Momo exclaimed, looking towards the group with shining eyes.
"Good job!" Emiri said, clapping her hands together. "I told you that you could do more in a battle if you're able to think of a good strategy! You could still work on your reflexes but I can see you've improved since the Sports Festival." She turned and looked at Kaminari, "you need to work on your mobility, and try to be able to get better at finding an opening on your opponent. I think a single touch should be enough to immobilize your opponent for a bit!"
Kaminari just nodded and gave her a thumbs up. It looked like her had used his quirk enough to fry his brain but not enough to leave him near brain dead. Luckily it seemed that he had processed what she had said. "Alright, let's get the next team up!"
Sero vs. Mina
This match ended in a draw. Sero tried to capture Mina as the pink skinned girl slid around him, managing to stay a good ways away from the boundary line. By the end of their match the room was full of tape and spatters of low ph acid.
"You both are really fast." Emiri said, "Sero, you should work more on aiming at a vastly moving target. I can up the speed on the dummies you were training with yesterday."
"Alright, cool!" Sero said.
"And Mina, you're good at dodging attacks, but you need to work on attacking. You can evade all you want but villain matches aren't timed so you can't just dodge an entire battle."
"Gotcha!"
Once everything got cleaned up they headed onto the next match.
Ojiro vs. Jiro
Jiro was at a heavy disadvantage in this match. Ojiro was able to push her out of bounds with ease by jumping around her and eventually hitting her hard enough to make her skid just enough be be pushed out of bounds.
"If I had my hero costume I would of totally been at more of an advantage." Jiro sighed.
"You can't always depend on your hero costume." Emiri said, "Maybe if you're able to get close enough to your opponent you can use your earphone jacks and wrap them around their wrist. You could try to limit their movement and give yourself an opening— though you'd have to strengthen them quite a bit more."
Jiro nodded. "Right."
"And Ojiro! You did pretty well. Maybe use your tail to propel yourself off of the ground sometimes? Maybe you could use it to dodge something that's low or on the ground by using it to propel yourself off the ground!"
Ojiro nodded, "Sounds good."
Emiri clapped her hands together, "Alright, guess we're done with the one on one battles-"
