Emiri was sitting in the kitchen of a large house, dressed in the tan and blue uniform of Somei Private Academy. There was a TV mounted on the wall just above the table that showed a battle between a large shark-headed man and an up and coming hero by the name of Kamui Woods. If her father had stayed a bit before rushing off to work, he would say something about the younger heroes stealing his spotlight, and her mother and older brother would nod in agreement— despite her older brother being one of the 'younger heroes'.

Emiri's family had all been heroes in their lifetime. Her parents, her grandparents, her great grandparents, so on and so fourth. When Emiri had been born, everyone expected her to follow in their footsteps and become a hero just like them, become the heiress to the hero linage in a way. Though at a young age she was diagnosed with a rare disease that weakened her immune system significantly. Her body seemed to attack itself and she was bedridden for the majority of her childhood. Her recovery was described as a miracle. Doctors couldn't explain it, they ran all sorts of tests trying to find traces of the illness, but it was like it had never been there in the first place. That had happened three years ago, just in time for her to start Junior high. Her parents had enrolled her into the best Private Academy in Japan that happened to be a feeder school into the famous hero school U.A.

Glancing up at the screen once more before she turned the TV off, Emiri saw a giant woman kick the villain in the face, stealing the spotlight. As she turned the screen off, she thought of how most heroes strived to be in the spotlight, and how those with powerful quirks were almost idolized by society. She had decided a long time ago that once she was older she'd bring this to everyone's attention and make a change for the better, though for now, she just needed to get to school on time.

"Good Morning Koyama!" A voice shouted, and Emiri glanced up from the ground to see a blue haired boy waving at her from his desk in their classroom. He was always the first one at school in the mornings. Sometimes Emiri wondered if he ever actually left the school building.

"G-Good morning Iida." Emiri greeted softly, the corners of her mouth curving up in a smile. Iida was one of the other kids in her class who comes from a Heroic family. "It's nice to see you."

"Likewise." Iida said.

And just like that, their conversation was over. Emiri wasn't much of a talker, and Iida normally spent the mornings until the bell rings studying. Normally the two of them were the first to arrive at the school, since Iida always got there and hour before class and Emiri lives only five minutes away.

It didn't take long for the other students started filling into the classroom, followed by their teacher not too much later. The bell rung and another day of classes started.

Later that day, Emiri was sitting in the classroom, her homeroom teacher standing at the front. Most days, this period was treated as a time for a study hall, though today she had a stack of papers in her hand.

"As I'm sure you are all aware all of you are third years, meaning you need to start thinking about your futures." She held up one of the sheets of paper, "I know you all want to become heroes, but not all of you will succeed in that business, so I'm passing these papers out so you can know what options you have." She started passing out the sheets. "I trust you all to know what you are capable of." Emiri's homeroom teacher had always let her opinions show. She was one of the people who believes that one's quirk dictates what they end up doing in their life, and never hid that belief from her students.

Looking at the sheet on her desk, Emiri skimmed through the jobs. Hero, Policeman/woman, Private Investigator, teacher, the list just went on and on.

After the list was passed out, everyone grouped up and started talking, about heroes, their futures, or just about the latest movie that was released. Once or twice Iida tried to get them to stop talking and study, but each time he was shot down by the class, now he was sitting and chatting with a frail ginger haired girl, Clover was her name if Emiri remembered correctly.

Emiri got up from her seat and threw the list away— there was no way she wasn't going to be attending U.A. She knew her parents would go as far as recommending her to the school, she wouldn't be surprised if they had already sent in a recommendation despite the entrance exam being six months away. Her entire family was adamant on her becoming a hero, anything else would disappoint them.

The bell rung to signify the end of the school day, and everyone in the room wasted no time in rushing out of the building. Emiri lingered behind a bit before she left the building as well to head home.

Emiri opened the door to an empty house. Once again her entire family was out doing hero work. She would be lying if she said she wasn't at least a little bit mad at them for spending more time on their hero work than at home. It was upsetting coming home to an empty house day after day, but she knew her family valued their hero work, so there wasn't anything that could be done about it.

Quietly, she headed upstairs to her room and immediately sat down at her desk, the U.A entrance exams might be six months away, but it was never too early to start studying.
