guilt

"HE WHAT?!" 

"it's as I said" sonic said lowly, rubbing his ears from the shout of the team 

his friends couldn't believe what they were hearing 

but by the way, his de-aged friends were acting 

they knew it was true  

shadow had been taken straight to bed to rest of his cold whilst knuckles and espio were placed in the play pin as the adults talked 

"I'd never thought he'd go that far" vector said in disbelief, his eyes constantly switching from the conversation to where his de-aged teammates were 

"and I can't believe I let it happen" sonic sighed, resting his head into his hands 

and his friends couldn't imagine the amount of guilt the blue blur must be feeling, but they still made the effort to make him feel better 

"sonic, even you can't do everything, no you couldn't save them from the first shot, but you did the second" tails began 

"yeah but-" sonic started to protest, but they weren't done 

"exactly, you were able to save them before he could do anything permanent, the deterioration, the bruising, it's all temporary, so just know that you're the one who prevented that" Amy finished as she took over 

sonic simply smiled, he knew they weren't going to let him take any blame, so he cut the guilt trip short 

"yes, and I would love to give Eggman a "talking too" for these bruises" rouge practically growled 

even with shadows dark fur, she could see them 

it was more evident on the 2, especially Espio who seemed to have the worse of them 

all being on their torsos and arms 

After today they were all in agreement that further measures needed to be put in place, especially if Eggman tried anything like this again, now even more so that their friends were in a more vulnerable state 

this meant everyone had to be on guard 24-7 

to which no-one objected to 

"so we're all in agreement, everyone's staying here until everything and everyone is back to normal" tails asked

everyone nodded in agreement 

a shrill excited cry came from the pin bringing all attention to an excited echidna puggle, looking through the bars to say "hello, pay attention to me"

everyone gave a laugh before sonic came over to pick up the echidna as well as the baby chameleon who had been throwing a block in amusement 

"it's so odd to think this little grouchy grump was ever so...happy?" Rouge laughed as sonic and the babies joined the group

"totally, then you have this little squirmer who never stays still" vector laughed as sonic struggled to give the wriggler to the crocodile

"different, yet so similar" rouge laughed as she booped their noses

"true, knuckles was always passionate and loud, and Espio was always curious" tails concurred

"Funny how things stay the same" sonic chuckled before he felt his hand being pulled directed into the little puggles mouth 

"heh, guess someones hungry" sonic stated as he tried to pull his hand away, only to find it harder than expected (must have been born strong) sonic thought as the little echidna whined 

"Perhaps it's time for lunch" vector said as he was struggling with a similar situation, the little chameleon was trying to eat the crocks golden chain 

"I'll get the food prepared, can someone check on shadow please?" Amy said/asked 

"on it" rouge announced as she flew upstairs
