vectors defences lowered as he recognised the two familiar figures rouge had brought with her

"silver, blaze, great to see you both again, I'd come to give you a hug but-" Vector greeted warmly before signalling to the two toddlers in his arms who were staring at the newcomers

all figures then proceeded to sit with vector and the children in the living room to catchup

"so what brings you both to the past?" vector asked as charmy decided to go outside to play with cream, letting the "grown-ups talk" which sounded like it would bore his brains out

"no reason, in particular, silver wanted to show me around the past, or your present as you say, not long after did we cross paths with miss rouge" Blaze explained

"but it seems our travel has caused some effects" she finished worriedly, looking at the two children who were still watching the two time-travellers with interested eyes

"Nope, this is all Eggman's doing" vector sighed as he patted reassuringly and gently on the babies heads, earning delightful squeals from them

"really? because rouge-" Silver began before the bat herself interrupted him

"So where's the third member of this nursery?" she asked

"Amy's just feeding him now, I think, hopefully, she's got the little brat to keep his food down," Vector said, although mumbling the last part

"I'll go see how she's doing" Rouge announced as she walked to the kitchen, bringing the large bags with her

he knew they needed supplies but 3 large bags was a big extent

vector decided by the bat's response he better fill the two in of what truly had happened and what was going on 

but by the middle, he was interrupted as he felt an impatient tugging motion in his arms

whilst knuckles seemed to get bored of the two time-travellers, espio appeared to have grown the confidence to reach out, his little arms grabbing out to the psychic silver hedgehog, whining and cooing in want of his attention

silver was surprised by the new attention whilst vector simply chuckled

"looks like he's taken an interest in you, want to hold him?" Vector said aloud before asking his question

silver was astounded by how much joy and awe he felt at the honour of being able to hold the little bundle of joy, so slowly he made his way over to the croc to take the infant out of his grip and into his hold

"Just be careful on the little guy's torso and arms k" vector heeded as espio made himself comfortable in silvers hold, wrapping his tail around his arms and immediately began to play with the hedgehog's chest fluff, squealing happily at the texture

but silver could only laugh in awe at the cuteness

"think we've lost him" vector chuckled, to which blaze couldn't help but laugh herself at the sight

"want to hold one?" Vector asked the princess, not wishing for her to feel left out

"no thank you" blaze politely declined, she preferred admiring from afar anyway

but there was something that she needed to get off her chest

"vector?" she began to ask

"Yeah?" vector answered

"what caused those bruises in the first place?" she asked worriedly

to this vector simply sighed, looking to the floor and held the little echidna close on instinct as he answered

"as I told ya, it was all Eggman's doing"

this seemed to ignite a strong wave of hatred within the purple cat

"How dare he! to mark children so young, it's unacceptable!" she growled, trying to contain her rage, but flames continued to flow from her hair

but was soon interrupted by the sound of crying from the little echidna

however little knux was not a fan of fire, when blaze looked into his big purple eyes, she saw true fear

once the fire was out his crying slowly turned into small sobs and hiccups

"I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to upset him so, I didn't-" Blaze began to apologise before being interrupted by vector

"blaze it's ok, you didn't mean it, he's just a little spooked, he'll calm down soon, see" Vector reassured as he slowly rocked the little echidna on his chest and true to his words knuckles cries ceased, only leaving dry tear marks

"Again, I didn't mean to startle him so" Blaze sighed before feeling a tiny pressure on her hand

she seemed to have gotten close enough for the echidna to grab her hand that was 10 times larger than his tiny fist, knuckles cooed as he struggled to hold it close

blaze allowed the puggle to feel the palm of her hand, she knew they were naturally warm and it proved to be more comforting than the scary fire

"seems they have chosen their sides" silver joked as he continued to hold the baby in his arms

"let's not make this a competition" blaze said as she rolled her eyes, but couldn't help a smile appearing on her face

"competition? I wouldn't know who to bet" the voice of sonic laughed as he entered the scene
