"ah sonic, how was your shower?" vector asked

"not bad, as best as water can get" Sonic shrugged before noticing the two new figures

"oh hey guys, how are you two, how's the future?" sonic said with surprise, but was happy non the less

"good, and not destroyed, so nothing to complain about" silver chuckled

but as sonic sat down with the group both children instantly took interest in the blue blur, reaching out to him with excitement

"well they have a clear favourite it seems" blaze pointed out

"well what's different?" sonic shrugged proudly with a laugh

sonic began to scoop the children up in his hold

"ok ok, calm down, you're free" silver laughed as espio squirmed in the hedgehogs hold before the blue blur came to pick him up

"feel kinda betrayed" vector joked as sonic sat on the seat next to him

"well although you're closet to both of them when they were older, I think as vector has told us, they have connected the dots of that they are safe with you and since they spent the most time with you that they've grown attached, seeing you as their career, but I may be wrong" Blaze pondered as she tried to explain why the two were so attached to sonic

the three older mobians took her words into account and to them, it made the most sense

"Think I'm going to get fathers day gifts this year?" sonic joked before he felt a soft slap at the back of his head

"you'll be lucky if you don't get knocked out if you ever asked them that" Amy laughed

looking back they saw a pink hedgehog, a black hedgehog both covered in baby food after a long-struggling battle (along with a bat who only had the gunk on her gloves)

and by the grumpy look on the baby hedgehogs face, it seemed the girls were victorious

"I think that's going to happen anyway" sonic responded

"Anyway, this little guy needs a bath" Rouge interrupted before whispering "so do we"

"yeah, you know so could these two, been a while," Sonic said as he slowly got up from his seat with children in hand

"I'll get it running," vector said as he walked to the bathroom, but helped sonics load as he took knuckles of his hand so he could grab shadow, enabling Amy to wash herself

but as sonic tried to take shadow from Amy's grip he began to yell and cry

only stopping when he let shadow stay in her arms

regardless of his grumpy attitude, he seemed to have grown attached to the pink hedgehog

to which Amy found flattering, but also a little awkward as she just wanted to get cleaned, but it seemed that would have to wait a bit longer

she and sonic were about to followed vectors footsteps, but not before saying hello to the two time travellers

"Hey guys, sorry for the quick hello, but you're welcome to stay if you like," Amy said with a smile

"that would be nice but I believe we must get going, we still have our responsibilities" Blaze explained politely

of course, they understood but it was sad their stay was such a short one

"well it was nice to see you both again, I'll show you the photos when you come back once more" sonic promised as they walked to say goodbye

but as blaze went out to shake Amy's hand she got a soft slap and a whine from the dark hedgehog

"shadow that's not nice" Amy scolded but shadow simply looked away

"Sorry about him, still working off a cold making him act quite rude and clingy" Amy apologised on shadows behalf

"It is alright, I look forward to those photos however, that will make up for it" Blaze smiled with a little glint of humour

"aww I'm gonna miss em like this, but I'm glad we were here to witness it up close," silver said with a smile, crouching to espio's eye level and booping the little chameleon on his snout earning a little giggle from him

"Indeed, goodbye," Blaze said as she gave a little bow before leaving the building, silver by her side

"say goodbye" Amy cooed as she moved shadow's hand to make a waving motion, sonic following her lead and did the same with espio

"Until we meet again" silver finished as he waved goodbye and closed the door

"Right then, let's go get you all cleaned up, and then rouge has a surprise for them when they're all nice and clean," Amy said as they once more headed to the bathroom

there they found vector drying an already washed echidna

"what took you guys so long, this guys been shampooed, washed and dried," vector said as he took the towel off the little red fuzzball and reached out for a hairbrush to finish his work

"just saying goodbye to silver and blaze is all, had to get back to their time" sonic answered as he and Amy placed the two babies on the changing table and taking off their diapers ready for bath time

"how was he by the way?" Amy asked referring to knuckles as she re-ran the water for another bath

"took to the water like a fish, seemed to love it really" vector admitted happily

"good" Amy stated as she put her elbow in the bath, seeming good for the babies and went to put them in

but as they put them in they were surprised by the results

whilst shadow seemed to be enjoying the water, taking a similar reaction to one of knuckles, finding it relaxing and fun

espio on the other hand did not share the same thought

as he was placed in he immediately started to thrash around, he was not happy in the least, screaming and crying as water surrounded his body

"Hey, hey, it's ok, what's wrong" Amy began to ask reassuringly and caringly as sonic took espio out of the bath

"not a fan of water huh?" sonic asked sympathetically, knowing the feeling

his only response was espio's crying calming down

"well he isn't dirty like shadow and doesn't have hair like either of them, so for now let's just give him a little wash with a dampened towel" vector said as he came to the rescue, swapping babies so he could attend to the little chameleon

both were reptiles so vector knew how to properly wash, it didn't need to be thougho, just a good clean and you were good to go, an advantage of having scales instead of fur

didn't mean he didn't squirm away any less, but his outbursts were quieter

but for once it seemed Amy had the easy job shadow seemed calm in the water, cooing as the shampoo was rubbed into their quills and seeming to destress as the water flowed to wash them away

eventually, bath time was over and was being dried, shadows quills were brushed and clean diapers were worn

"ready for your surprise?" she asked excitedly as she tickled shadows stomach, finally earning herself a smile from the grumpy hedgehog

"surprise?" vector asked curiously as he gently rocked espio side to side, he'd finally calmed down and was playing with vectors chain, his recently favourite toy and distraction

"one that she isn't telling me about apparently" sonic laughed as knuckles pulled on his quills, what was children and pulling things?!

but Amy simply said nothing and lead the way downstairs and to the "surprise"

but when vector and sonic saw what it was, it was them that were surprised
