the crying night

the day of laughter had finally come to an end

the sun was setting and now it was time to get the children to bed

feeding them a warm bottle of milk and some banana baby food

getting them out of their costumes and into their beds

ensuring non had gone to the bathroom before turning off the light and leaving them to sleep

only that was easier said than done

the older mobians had just got themselves into bed before the sound of crying interrupted the peace

being the first one to his feet sonic rushed to the children's room to check what was wrong

there he saw 3 crying infants at the edge of their cribs

"what's wrong guys?" sonic asked tiredly as he rubbed his eye

he checked on each one at sonic speed, they were all clean so that was a no on that theory

(thank chaos) he internally thought

he tried feeding them but they weren't having it

vector and Amy soon appeared to check why the crying hadn't stopped, to which Sonic didn't have an answer too

they tried picking them up and swaying them but it wasn't doing anything

they tried putting their dummy's in their mouth but once more, it had no effect

sonic had tried reading a story but in the middle of the book he could hardly hear his thoughts

miss vanilla eventually came in to check what was happening

"We don't know what's wrong, we checked if they were hungry, or thirsty or anything but we don't know, they just won't stop crying" Amy explained with panic

but vanilla simply smiled

"Sometimes babies just will cry for no reason, or for a reason that is more personal to them that you can't do anything except be there for them" Vanilla explained patiently as she held out a device and placed it on the table

"but sometimes white noise can help," she said as she turned on the little box

it immediately released white noise

the group continued to sway the babies and in the end, they had finally calmed down

settling into their holds as their eyes eventually closed showing they had once more drifted back to sleep

"you're a goddess" vector couldn't help but let out

earning a small flustered blush from the older rabbit

"it is simply experience," she said humbly as they placed the babies slowly and carefully back into their cribs

"that should hopefully allow them and us to sleep tonight right?" sonic asked sheepishly

"There is no guarantee but by this time they should hopefully stay asleep" vanilla responded as they quietly left the room, although leaving the white noise machine on

"wow, it's been 20 minutes," sonic said in disbelief as he looked at the clock

"that is usual for young babies" vanilla stated

vector blinked in surprise, yes he had taken care of charmy when he was a baby and had to deal with some sleepless nights, but it wasn't like he was under 1 year old, to truly deal with this every night, it just made him admire vanilla more

"goodnight everyone" vanilla whispered as she went back to bed

"goodnight" the three responded as they re-entered their rooms

praying that the babies would sleep the rest of the night
