meal time troubles

"hey sonic, did vanilla pack any food?" Amy asked as she entered the kitchen with knuckles in hand, sonic in the kitchen making himself a chillidog while it seems tails went back to his lab

"uh, yeah I think so, does this mush count" sonic muttered as he held a bottle of puree in hand

"yep, ok sweetie, ready for some num nums?" Amy cooed as she placed knuckled onto the table, and sonic handing her the puree and plastic spoon

Knuckles's stare could pierce through diamond, his hatred being talked to like a baby bubbling, and Amy tying a bib around his neck was not helping

"don't talk to me like that!" knuckles said darkly

"heh, sorry knuckles, I just can't get over how cute you are" Amy admitted happily, causing the echidna to groan

"you want to feed him sonic?" Amy asked the blue blur

But one look from knuckles's "I you do I swear" stare told him not to intervene

"um, no thankyou Amy, I'll go set up a proper room for knuckles" sonic replied before speeding away

"well ok then" Amy said as she watched her love run of

"ok sweetie, here comes the airoplane" Amy began, making the spoon like a plane, but knuckles was having none of it, staring annoyedly at the pink hedgehog

"let me just eat it properly" knuckles grumbled

"fine" Amy groaned as she tried again, no longer making a plane movement, yet knuckles still continued to stare

"what's wrong now?" Amy sighed

"let me eat on my own"knuckles said

This made amy become a little more worried then annoyed

"knuckles, I don't think that's a good idea, your motor skills haven't been good so far" Amy tried to reason

"please, just let me try" knuckles pleaded

Giving a small sigh she gave the spoon to the little echidna, although he continued to drop the spoon, getting it into his mouth but never all the way, after several failed attempts knuckles reluctantly gave up

"ugh! Forget it, I'm not hungry!" knuckles shouted, throwing the spoon (not very far) away, crossing his arms in distress

"want me to do it now? I promise I won't do aeroplane and it'll be over before you know it" Amy smiled sympathetically while she picked up the spoon

Knuckles thought for a short moment, truthfully, he was starting to get really hungry

"ok" knuckles whispered

"good, now open up" Amy said as she scooped up a spoonful of mush

Knuckles opened his mouth heasiently, but as it entered it took him by surprise

It actually tasted really good

"what is up?" knuckles asked in awe

"it says carrots and sweet corn" Amy replied

"can I have some more, please" knuckles asked

Amy nodded sweetly as she continued to scoop him more food, pleased, a little surprised he said please but who was she to complain

It wasn't long until the little jar was empty, Amy had to admit she found it fun to feed knuckles, finding it cute as he opened his mouth like a fish, eager to get more of it

"Amy" knuckles asked worriedly

His voice bringing the pink hedgehog out of her daze, finding herself scooping air to him

"oh, heh, sorry" Amy said as she rubbed the back of her head

Amy then noticed that knuckles had orange all around his muzzle, causing her to giggle getting up she grabbed a wet cloth and went to wipe the babies muzzle who was trying to avoid it, twisting his head in protest, but it was no use

"how can such a little echidna make a huge mess?" Amy questioned

"shud up" knuckles muffled voice commented

Without meaning to knuckles let out a little yawn, he tried to cover his mouth hoping the pink hedgehog didn't hear him, only luck never seemed to be on his side

"sounds like someone is getting sleepy" Amy commented with a smirk

"no-"knuckles began before letting another more louder yawn

"yes" Amy cooed as she picked the little red ball

"let go Amy" knuckles ordered, trying to punch her arm, but his energy was going down the drain

As they walked to knuckles's temporary room they saw sonic, who seemed to be very pleased with himself

Inside there was a little brown basket with the little blanket vanilla offered

"perfect timing" Amy said, making their presence noticed

"the baby sleepy?" sonic teased

Knuckles didn't even have the energy to fight back, his eyes were flickering on and off while all the weight of his head was resting on Amy's shoulder

"be nice" Amy whispered as she placed the echidna cub into the basket, covering his body with the blanket and his back against the mattress

Knuckles's eyes had completely shut and all his limbs and dreadlocks seemed to go out in all directions

"Aww" Amy and sonic awed

"we should leave him to sleep" Amy said, signalling to sonic it was time to go

"at least let me get some pictures of this first" sonic pleaded, pulling out his phone

"he's going to kill you after all of this is over" Amy sighed

"meh, I can handle big scary red" sonic replied, not looking up

Amy just eyerolled as she dragged the blue blur out of the room

"so, how is tails getting on with the reverse ray?" Amy asked

"he said that it was going to take a few days, along with building the changing machine, so he said to not to disturb him as much as possible" sonic responded

"sounds good as long as he doesn't work himself to hard" Amy said

"yeah" sonic sighed

(a few seconds of awkwardness later)

"well, it's getting late so I should probably get going" Amy said as she began to leave, stopping at the door to ask a serious question

"you going to be ok while I'm gone? I'll be back around tomorrow but I could always stay for the night"

"no need ames, we are perfectly capable of handling things from here" sonic replied happily

"well ok, I'll see you tomorrow, oh and sonic" Amy continued leaving, but stopped for the last time

"yeah ames" sonic asked

"please go easy on knuckles, he's already embarrassed as it is" Amy finished

"I will, don't worry" sonic promised

And with his words of comfort she left the premises
