ray-gun randomness

too late

sonic ran as fast as he could to Eggman's base 

but as he was ready to enter a familiar hedgehog robot blocked his way 

"better get out of my way metalhead, I'm really not in the mood to play with you" sonic warned 

but the metal version of himself ignored those warnings and went in for the attack 

luckily sonic was able to dodge the attack and just as he skidded to a stop, spin dashed fast and furiously into the robot, sending metal to crash into the wall 

sonic was able to run past and get into the base 

unfortunately metal was soon back into the air and on sonic's tail, shooting yellow charge bolts to his organic twin 

"dammit, need to lose this guy so I can concentrate on finding the boys" sonic thought to himself hurriedly

that's when he saw the hallway, three separate hallways, all dark, but one had a vent he'd be able to spin dash through and loose metal in the process 

sonic was quite a few paces from the robotic copy so he sped faster so the robot wouldn't be able to see which hallway he would enter 

he entered the hallway with the vent and hid inside 

his plan had worked as he heard metal continue through the hallway 

thank his lucky stars that metals sensors were still recovering 

sonic noticed the dents in the metal head and knew Eggman still needed to repair them 

sonic gave a little sigh as he continued his search 

he sped through the vent with his spin dash and listened very carefully for anything that would tell him where his friends and/or Eggman might be 

"all your abilities, and all your devoted loyalty, sonic and his friends won't stand a chance" sonic heard the voice of Eggman laugh 

bellow he heard screaming and immediately jumped out of the vent leading to the place where Eggman was watching the display 

but sonic soon realised he couldn't do anything about it 

as he watched on the screen his babified friends get hit by another ray, Eggman watched in full interest, not even noticing sonic's arrival 

as the pricing light ended, sonic could only watch in worry

which soon turned into relief 

the three figures were still there, alive and moving 

"haha, now you three babbling babies, any more wise words to your new master," Eggman asked through a microphone 

sonic waited for a reply, only to be horrified that they didn't say anything at all, well, besides some gibberish and coo's 

"what did you do to them now egg face?" sonic asked dangerously 

it only then did the evil man turn to face the hedgehog, the blue blur looked peeved and his foot tapped with aggression

"ah, how did you" Eggman began to ask before he was attacked by the blue hedgehog 

"oof" the egg-shaped man cried in pain as he hit the floor 

"metal needs repairs egg breath, now tell me, what have you done to them now?!" sonic asked angrily 

cornered, Eggman had no choice but to answer sonics question

"ah, uh, I've made it so that their tiny little brains matched their tiny little bodies" Eggman confessed

the little smirk at the edge of Eggman's lip due to how proud of himself he was, was soon cleaned of as sonic got right into his face with a growl 

his quills seeming much darker, Eggman noted fearfully 

"Is this permanent, because I swear if it is-" sonic began to threaten before Eggman cowardly confessed once again

"nono, I've only shot at them once, if I had done it twice then it would have been permanent" 

"how long until it wears off" sonic continued to question  

"I've found it only a week, due to testing on...um nothing" Eggman answered, though quickly shutting up so not to get himself into more trouble 

"where are they?!" sonic finished of his questions 

"just in the next room to your right" Eggman continued, the more he was interrogated it seemed the darker the hedgehog's quills seemed to get

"Great, thanks baldy" sonic smiled gleefully as he kicked the eggshaped man out of his room and into a nearby cell that the base had installed for prisoners 

"and if you dare try to damage my friends more then you already have done, you'll be wishing that you had never been born" sonic said dangerously 

making Eggman shake in his boots in his new room/cell 

sonic didn't like using threats or anything like, as he said, that was more shadows thing, but if a person dared to try and mess with his friends, he wasn't afraid to go the mile 

"wow, Deja Vu" sonic laughed to himself as he kept his eyes out, metal was still a threat, alongside the other badnicks 

he came across the room where the babbling was echoing

sonic spin dashed through the door and into the room 

where he found himself being stared at by three very interested toddlers 

"hey guys," sonic said softly

but the gibberish continued

sonic sighed, happy he found them but disheartened that there had been more damage done that he hadn't been able to stop

"Sorry I wasn't able to save you guys in time" sonic began as he crouched to their eye levels" 

shadow was looking somewhere else, knuckles were chewing on the metal bars and Espio was babbling to himself 

if sonic wasn't drowning in self-pity he would have laughed and awed at the sight 

"But I promise I won't ever let something like this happen again" sonic promised as he ripped the metal railings away so he could take the babies out of their seats 

"let's go home" sonic said to them as he held each child securely in his arms 

he wouldn't dare chance it with the prams (that were also in the room) with the badnicks still about 

"guess we're buying another pram when we get home" sonic laughed/announced to the children, although they weren't paying attention to anything the blue blur was saying 

boy was he going to have a lot to explain when he got back
