the redecoration

"Wake up sleepyhead" an annoying familiar voice

Knuckles grumbled as he woke up from his sleep and was faced with his rival/friend

"mhm" knuckles uttered as he wiped the sleep away from his eyes

That's when he noticed something weird, he wasn't in the familiar temporary nursery, yes, he was in the same basket, but now it and he was in the hallway

"what's going on?" knuckles questioned with anger and confusion

But it was the newly appearing pink hedgehog who answered his question by shooing sonic away and picking him up in her arms

"sonic's doing some re-decorating in your room, and we are going to give you a bath" Amy answered as they entered the bathroom

As Amy ran the bath and placed a bath seat knuckles sat on a pile of towels waiting for his unwanted wash

"aw come on, don't you want to be clean?" Amy asked noticing the echidna cub's frustration

"hmp" was Amy's only response

"how long are you going to be like this until you accept the fact you can't do as much as you could before" Amy sighed with frustration of her own

Knuckles merely turned his head away

Amy ignored the cub's reaction and turned to test he water to make sure it was safe (room temperature) and when she was happy, she went to grab knuckles, taking of his socks gloves and diaper and began to place him into the bath seat and thus the water

"No! stop!" knuckles protested as he squirmed

Amy simply rolled her eyes as she placed him in the seat and moved to get the shampoo

But as she left, she didn't the notice the little echidna's struggling stop

Knuckles wouldn't admit it but he actually liked the water, it reminded him of his favourite lake on angel island

"so how is it" Amy asked with a smirk, as she notice the cub's fighting stop

"what, oh, yeah, it's nice" the echidna stuttered, coming out of his daze

Amy chuckled as she revealed cherry scented shampoo that also acted as a body wash

"cherry, really" knuckles whined

"yes, now hold still" the pink hedgehog demanded as she put the liquid into her gloveless hands

"ugh!" knuckles simply uttered

"ok, close your eyes and mouth" Amy instructed as she applied the lotion, knuckles obeyed her orders this time as he heard getting shampoo in those areas are super bad, with his eyes close he didn't notice that that suds were created all over his body, causing his fur to point in every direction

"ok, I'm going to wash it of now" Amy commented, so the cub knew exactly what was happening

As the water began to waterfall down, it washed away the shampoo and caused his dreadlocks to cover his entire face

"almost done" Amy stated as she reached for a towel, but turning around she noticed knuckle's funny drenched state, making her laugh in the process

"I hate you" knuckles grumbled as he pushed his dreadlocks out of his eyes

"heh, sorry sweetie, come on, lets get you dry" Amy said through chuckles and lifting the echidna out the tub, draining the water and wrapping the cub in a warm fluffy towel, rubbing his hair with it to make it dry quicker

"stop!" knuckles yelled from under the towel, which Amy finally did

But as she took the towel away it revealed a pouting echidna baby with very puffy and fuzzy hair

It took all of Amy's self-control not to laugh hysterically and/or wrap the echidna in a bone crushing hug due to his adorableness

"what?!" knuckles asked angrily, taking Amy out her thoughts

"n,nothing" Amy lied as she went to grab the last pieces

"let's finish his up fluffball" Amy laughed

Knuckles quick confusion was just as quickly replaced with the sense of pleasantness as his hair brush brushed his quills

"there we go" Amy stated as she put the brush away, much to the echidna's secret disappointment

"alrighty then, let's go see sonics handy work" Amy commented as she applied new clean socks, gloves and diaper

"don't get your hopes up, he's probably trashed the place" knuckles chuckled

Amy eyerolled with a smile, it was the fist time he had properly laugh during this time, so the pink hedgehog decided not to provoke him

But as the two entered the room to see the blue blurs work, it was clear knuckles wouldn't be laughing anytime soon

The room that was once a spare empty room with one simple bed was now occupied with a newly bought cot along with a rocking chair and teddies and toys scattered in the corners

"there's also a play pin and swing in the living room and in the kitchen, I've also stocked up food and a high chair" sonic said proudly as he noticed the two entering the room

"oh, sonic it's amazing!" Amy squealed and complimented with glee giving him a quick pec on the cheek

"ugh, Amy" sonic whined as he wiped his cheek

"what do you think knuckles?" Amy asked sweetly

(Inside knuckles was internally screaming)

"why do you torture me?" knuckles asked defeatedly, resting his head on amy's arms

"aww come on now, it's not that bad" Amy laughed with a squeeze

"yeah, your going to love the swing" sonic stated with a wink and thumbs up

But knuckles knew otherwise, it was just an excuse to embarrass him further

Then suddenly, there was a knock at the door

"I thought vanilla said she was going to spend the day with cream?" sonic stated with confusion

"she did" Amy replied with the same amount of confusion

Sonic then decided to walk to the door while Amy instinctively hugged knuckles closer for protection

Slowly sonic opened the door to reveal two familiar figures

"oh no" knuckles whispered with fear
