the three figures emerged from the device with the happiest smiles seen in their entire lives

"finally! we're back to normal!" knuckles shouted in joy, rushing out of the igloo to find that it was indeed true

"What a relief" espio sighed in happiness as he looked around his surroundings, everything finally being normal height, he was so pleased that his scales had changed a nice happy light blue

"The nightmare is finally over" shadow sighed, unable to stop a relived smile appearing on his face

"aww it couldn't have been that bad right?" sonic asked

but when the trio returned the death stare once more it had the appropriate effect of making sonic backdown

"thank you very much tails for working hard on reverting Eggman's machines" espio said with a bow

"no need to thank me, I enjoy a good challenge" tails said bashfully

"wish it didn't have to end so soon, I enjoyed having a little brother" charmy whined as he flew above espio and knuckles

"shall we not, it's over now so let's just forget what happened," shadow said gruffly, wanted to forget the events that had occurred

"Unfortunately it isn't as easy as that shadester" sonic laughed as he gave the dark hedgehog some printed photos

shadow swiped them out of the blue blurs phone and looked, espio and knuckles joining in

only it may have been best that they didn't

to the trio's horror, the memories were plastered in colour

them cuddling up in their sleep, innocently play fighting with each other, even playing dress up

and there was much more where that came from they knew it!

shadow disintegrated the photos with his chaos control, unable to hold his rage

"We made copies" sonic added with a weak smirk

shadow and knuckles were ready to clobber the blue blur if espio hadn't stepped in

"wait, we should give them a reason to explain themselves before-" espio began calmly, trying to hold in his anger before he noticed another picture drop from sonic's hand

when espio picked it up his eyes turned white

"is, is that s, silver?!" espio asked in horror, body shaking in terror

"oh, uh yeah, he and blaze came down one day, just after you went all baby head" sonic explained with a sheepish laugh, although he couldn't help himself from sweating

"you have no seconds to run" espio growled in fury and embarrassment, like hell he was going to defend the blue blur now after that blow of devastation

espio prepared his shuriken's, knuckles prepared his knuckles, shadow was even tempted to use his guns

but decided that his hand to hand skills would suffice

"now guys, let's be reasonable" sonic began shakily as he backed away slowly

only to run away from the angry trio, the rest soon joining in as they too were attacked

no one was saved (except for the rabbit family)

in the end, the group were resting their aching joints after the trio was done with them, knowing they deserved it

it wasn't exactly even between the two teams but it was getting there

the pictures weren't deleted as the originals were hidden very well for memories sake

but the teasing wasn't as bad as the three thought it to be

yes there would be the "aww you were so adorable" but a smack to the head soon shut them up

eventually, things had finally returned to normal

with slight changes

the solemn and brooding figures suddenly showed more of a weaker side to them

after days of not feeding themselves, it was funny to notice that when they ate they left a mess on their face

when going to sleep they would subconsciously reach out for something to hug

when they wanted something they would instantaneously reach for it before actually going to grab it

it wasn't a surprise that there was going to be some short term effects due to the phenomenon and the ones not affected tried not to point it out as much

but the one thing that they would never say to their face was how more comfortable they were with the others

each member of sonics nursery became closer that they at one point leant against them for support

shadow talked to Amy more about his past because he felt like he could trust her more

espio joined in more of the chaotixs banter, no longer being as uptight and laughed more

and knuckles opened up more about his feelings, feeling comfortable enough to ask for help when needed

and at the end of the day, they would give them an embrace of some sort, this being either a simple pat on the back or a side hug, but compared to before it was great

"it is over, but we will never forget" sonic whispered happily as he stuck a picture against his wardrobe doors

a picture of pure joy and one of the weirdest and craziest adventures he ever had
