Blue machine sounds compressed the room. Snowfall was picking up pace as I watched out of the window. I was trying not to think as I gazed at the white sky sprawled in front of me. Two more days had passed since I saw Amy. Nikolai suggested that we don't communicate over the phone just in case they were tapped.
I had started walking a little; the nurse had helped me till now. But I was sure I can walk on my own as well. With an M.R.I scan done I was cleared out to go home today. Olivia was supposed to visit at night and then take me home.
I hadn't seen anyone in these past days. I wanted to clear my head, and I think it had worked, I was thinking proportionally and felt much decent.
Soon when it hit seven I heard some shuffling out of the door and then one by one, Olivia, Tanner and Nikolai crammed in the room. "Are you ready to go home?" Tanner asked.
"Can't be more ready than this?" I said looking at Nikolai and he nodded.
They sat on the seats and Nikolai perched beside me on the bed, "you two are surely spending time together, eh?" Tanner snickered.
I wasn't anticipating the conversation so I simply shrugged.
"And you surely are keeping an eye on things" Nikolai snarled.
My head shot in his direction, not believing he just said that. I noticed Tanner going carcass after the comment but Olivia kept her equanimity, "of course we are." She said and walked around to sit beside me.
She draped an arm around my shoulder, "she is our best friend, we will make sure that nobody and nothing ever bring harm to her" her eyes were piercing through Nikolai.
"Tanner, why don't you and Nikolai go collect Kiara's paperwork from the desk while I help her get ready" she gave a sharp look to Tanner and he nodded.
After Tanner and Nikolai left, Olivia started putting my stuff in a bag, I sat there quietly, not knowing what to say, "what do you think about Dorian?" She asked.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
She turned to face me, "I know we have complicated things for you Kiara"
"That's one way to put it" I snapped
She rolled her eyes at me, "I guess what I am trying to say is that we shouldn't have let our experiences make things difficult for you"
I looked at her, "that's a certain change of tone Olivia." I looked at her with uncertainty. I didn't know where she was taking this convey.
"I am not best at heaving comforting words like you" she sighed and I nodded in answer.
"We have a history with Dorian that's painful, I know blaming him for whatever happened is stupid, but I can't help it."
"What did he do?" I asked
"I can't tell you, Wembley asked us not to"
"Why?"
"I don't know but I know you'll trust him, right?"
I couldn't help but merely nod, "see I am not saying that Dorian is a bad person, I have even come to realise that he is sensitive with you"
The words flickered all the moments that I have spent with him, "it's nothing like that"
She kneeled and placed her hands on my lap, "we love you, we know Dorian is not bad and that he is genuine with his behaviour towards you but we don't want to see you get hurt, that's all"
I gulped, I knew she was telling the truth but her actions have been certainly flouting her words lately.
After a while when tanner and Nikolai returned, Nikolai looked bleak, his face was warped, Tanner helped me and I stood up shifting all my body weight to one leg. I looked at Nikolai and saw a glint of frustration in his eyes, I shot my eyebrows up to ask what was up and he simply shook his head in denial.
