I was staring at Nikolai, as tiny snowflakes came down "what do you mean Eva was right?"

He rubbed his forehead with the fingertips, "they found someone leaving the house, minutes before the fire started"

"Does that mean?"

"Our theory could be right," he shrugged.

I saw lines of worry forming on his forehead as he raked his fingers through his curls, "I just need you to be on alert" he stepped closer, "and I am saying this very seriously Kiara, don't let your guard down"

"What are you both talking about," Olivia said as she pried her head out of the window. Nikolai looked at me with a raised brow, "I'll tell you later" I said and turned to Nikolai.

"What were you saying about Amy by the way?" He asked.

Olivia started to speak but I interjected, "nothing... I was trying to contact her but she wasn't responding" I sensed Olivia's gaze piercing through my back."So are you going to work on this case further?"

He glimpsed back at the station and waved back at someone, "No actually... The case was registered by another officer so I won't be heading this one"

I nodded as we both stood there in silence until he broke it, "I will be leaving Leo with a friend, do you want to grab dinner before I leave tomorrow?"

"Yeah sure."

He smiled, "okay, I'll pick you up at seven" he gave me a quick hug and went back to the station, I got in the car and found Olivia giving me a smirky look, "what?" I asked.

"Something up between you two?"

"Shut up," I said rejecting to entertain their assumption.

"Why?" She said turning towards me, "Nikolai is an amazing human, and he likes you"

"He is nice, generous, helpful, I know that... But I don't see anything happening between us." Or maybe I do, but I will actively deny it because Dorian keeps wandering in my mind.   "Also, I let him like two weeks ago there's no way he like me so much that it shows"

Olivia was quiet for a moment, "you know," she took my hand, "Sometimes you fall for a person in such fashion that you simply get lost in them and it takes a while for yourself to come out of that daze and when you do come out, the realisation of being in love hits you with surprise"

I narrowed my eyes, "I won't pretend that I understood that but maybe you are right," I looked at her, "Which movie is it from?"

"What!"

"Those words aren't yours and I do feel like I have heard them somewhere"

She kept looking at me for a moment and then I caught her glancing at tanner as their eyes met in the rearview mirror, "all I am saying is that Nikolai is someone you should consider, he likes you and I want you to be happy" she paused, "I think its high time you moved past Dorian and started a life with someone real." Her tone was slow but objectifying.

"What does that mean?"

"That means, Dorian, left, without explanation. He didn't want it as much as you did, so it's time you move ahead with someone who is real and is as involved as you'd be"

I didn't reply to that, for the most part, because I  thought it was stupid and she didn't realise the gravity of my situation, but also for a smaller part because I somewhere knew she was right.

I gazed out of the window, I had much more on my plate to worry about, finding Dorian was one thing now I had to find Amy  for it, I thought back to every conversation I had with Amy about Dorian, every time she lied, every time she hid something very crucial; something that could have helped me in finding Dorian, "are you listening?" Olivia's voice interrupted my train of thought, "yeah?" I said absent-mindedly
