When Robyn finally stumbled from exhaustion, they stopped and sat, Robyn with her legs over the edge of the roof, Bucky, she noticed, staying at least a few feet back. In fact he looked so sick at her even sitting near the edge, that she shuffled backwards to join him.

"Heights huh,"

"What! Umm... yeah, I guess so."

"Don't tell anyone, but I hate spiders. They terrify me."

Bucky looked over in surprise. She smiled back, her eyes soft and happy. And Bucky didn't want to ruin that, but he needed to tell someone.
"I... I wake up sometimes, and I can't remember my own name. Or my mums. Or my favorite colour. But at least I know I'm scared of heights!" The sarcasm was clear.

Robyn nodded, and stared over the skyline.
"Tell me. That way if you ever forget, I can tell you."

"What if you aren't there?"

"Then I'll find you."

They sat, silent, for a while longer.

"Purple."

Robyn frowned, "What?"

"My favorite colour is purple. Or blue. Anything but red."

"Yellow. Like a sunset."

They both started to grin.

"My favorite animal is a German shepherd."

"Tabby cats."

"My birthday is January the 21st, 1984."

"10th of March, 1917. Alright, let me have a turn. I... don't like grapes."

"How is that even possible!!! I can't eat apples on public transport."

"That doesn't even make sense!"

By this point they were both lying flat against the roof, collapsed from laughing so much.

"Bryn?"

"Yeah?"

"Why?"

"Why what?"

"You could have done anything. You could still do anything. Why choose to be an assassin?"

Robyn was still for a while, before drawing a shaky breath.
"What I'm about to tell you.. if you repeat it to anyone-"

"I won't. I promise. Plus who else am I gonna tell?"

"Okay. Szar* this is hard."

"You don't have to-"

"No, no I need to." she winced and sat up, staring out over the blowing city.
"Okay. I'm doing this. You already know that I was nine when my dad... when he was killed. I'm assuming you didn't know that... that I saw it happen. I saw Him pull the trigger. But I was the only one who made it out that day.
My... Dad was a peacekeeper. He wanted me to grow up in a world where I could be truly happy. But my mum.. she died when I was four. I was often ill as a child, they didn't expect me to make it to my teens and didn't bother trying to hide it from me, they didn't believe in that. It didn't stop them from making my every living moment worth living.
When I was seven the Stark's were killed in a car crash. My only two friends in the world were in mourning for two people I'd never truly met. Tony stopped visiting, and by the time I was nine and the Time rolled around, Dad was getting old. They adopted me when they were quite old you see. Kind of an accident. And I guess I just saw how messed up the world was early on.
And then one night I woke up and my dad wasn't asleep in his bed. That didn't worry me to much, so I started to head downstairs. But before I reached the stairs I heard voices. The.. the man wanted to know the Starks bank details. Dad wouldn't give him them. I panicked when I saw the guy draw a gun.
I ran across the landing to the top drawer. We kept a gun in there. I wasn't supposed to know, but of course that meant I did. I ran back to the top of the stairs, and listened in on the conversation. The guy, I never found out his name, was threatening my dad, but he wasn't budging. So then he tried a new tactic. He said, 'your girl up there, she's asleep isn't she. Would be a shame if she didn't wake up.' And I knew dad was going to give in. So.. so I.."

Here Robyn stopped. Her breath was coming in shorter, choked sounds. Bucky reached out, finding her hand, and took it. She continued, her voice a bit stronger than before.

"I shot him. The man. I.. I just wasn't accounting for his finger being on the trigger."

She wasn't crying anymore. Her tone had deadened and she was glaring straight ahead, up at the dots of light above.

"He always said death didn't scare him. He would be with my mum again. What he was scared of was that I'd be alone.
I always reassured him I'd be okay. I'd find my way home. I was lying. I spent four years on the streets, or more correctly the rooftops. I was thirteen when I found out where the man came from, having been searching for years. An agency known as S.I.G.H.T. I was tall for my age, I joined their forces, them thinking I was 16. After nearly a year I found my way into their council as a bodyguard. They weren't after Stark money at this point. They had other plans. I... well do I have to tell you what I did? I let the younger recruits get away. They weren't there because they wanted to be."

Bucky tried to hide the horror from his face, though seemingly failed as Robyn's expression darkened. But she kept going, as if determined to tell the whole story.

"You know, looking back there's nothing I take back doing. That doesn't mean there's nothing I regret."

"'Silhouettes' from The second hunger games film."

"What?"

"That sounded like a quote, you know, from that song."

Bryn rolled over to look at him. "You've watched the hunger games?"

"Yeah, though I thought the love triangle was a bit much."

"You should So read the books then, they, unlike the film industry, don't focus on that as much."

Robyn was beaming now, though it was a quiet sort of smile, like the rising sun.

"Have you seen Star Wars?"

"Star Trek? Yeh I've seen that."

"What! No they're different things! Right, As soon as possible I'm getting Tony to download all the films, we're having a popcorn marathon!"

"Have they made a film of the hobbit, I loved that book?"

"You've read the hobbit?"

"Yes, I read it when it came out in 1937!"

They turned towards each other and accidentally locked eyes.

"We're both sorry losers aren't we?" Bucky grinned.

"Yep."

And they continued like that for the rest of the evening, but my lazy ass can't be bothered to write anymore of this scene, although it's really cute. Sorry guys. Love you all. Also I'm sorry, it's a really slow burn BUT WE WILL GET THERE, ONLY A FEW MORE CHAPTERS TILL PART ONE IS DONE. I'm planning to have like 4+ parts, one covering this, one covering ultron, then civil war, and one covering Endgame. Then I'm going to be moving onto the falcon and winter soldier thing, so I actually don't know how long this fic will be.👅
