Just so you know, I'm transferring this over to Ao3. I will continue to post on here, but the Ao3 version will be better edited, have a few added scenes, and I'm gonna spend more time on it. :)

The house was alive with voices, and even though Steve and Fury stood, talking about Ultron, it still felt almost peaceful, though this may have been caused by the fact that the director of SHIELD was doing the dishes.

"—my contacts all say he's building something, the amount of vibranium he made off with, I don't think it's just one thing."

"What about Ultron?"

"Oh he's easy to track, the guy's everywhere—"

"How do we know it's a guy? I mean, sure, the voice, but there isn't exactly anything 'down ther—"

"Bryn!" Tony hissed, though he was smiling, Natasha looking up to wink at her, and she faked a grin back. Robyn let the rest of the conversation wash over her, taking in what she needed, and headed to lean on the counter by Bruce, trying her best to ignore Bucky.

"Still going after launch codes?"

"Yes, he is, but he isn't making any headway."

"I once hacked the pentagon in high school for a dare!"....

Robyn leant over to Bruce, whispering, "You good? You kinda look a bit..."

He turned to her, almost shying away from her gaze. "Yeah, uh, I mean you were the one I-he...-"

"Smashed against the wall? Relax, I think that might have actually been Tony, you both came forwards so quickly. No hard feelings if it was you, nothing I haven't experienced before."

"Really?" A small weight seemed to have lifted off his shoulders, and she relaxed for a minute, before that talk drew him back into his somber reverie, and he joined the conversation.

"It's the world internet hob, every bite of data flows through there..."

Robyn found herself being drawn away from the conversation again, and try as she might, her eyes drifted back to the silent figure in the corner, Ignoring the speeded beating in her chest.

Damn.

"—But here we are, back on earth, with nothing but our wit and will to save earth."

Drawing her gaze away, and around the room, Robyn felt the atmosphere begin to change.

"Ultron says the Avengers are the only thing between him and his mission. And whether or not he admits it, his mission is global destruction, all of this, layer in a grave."

She raised her head to meet Fury's eyes as he scanned the room, something inside her rekindled.

"So Stand. Outwit the platinum bastard." He sank into a chair, watching each of them.

Natasha looked up, something different in her eyes. "Steve doesn't like that kind of talk."

"You know what Romanoff..." Steve shot back—

"So what does he want?" Fury continued.

"To be better. Better than us. He keeps building bodies."

"Person bodies," Tony interjected. "The human form is efficient, biologically speaking we're outmoded, but he keeps coming back to it."

Robyn felt, rather than saw, Bruce leave her side, and shuffle over to the table, looking down at the drawing Clint's daughter had given Natasha.

"When you two programmed him to protect the human race, you amazingly failed."
