Okay, so I'm updating early cos I'm going away, yay! Actually kinda glad to take a break because I've been kinda worried about my mental health recently, and I'm hoping this will distract me. Anyway, umm, no major warnings for this episode, and the next one I really love, then that's the end of this section, and we start on the Ultron part. I apologize, I've been reading back and this is not my best work, though I'm glad to say that I think I've improved. So that's that. Enjoy

Steve strode back into the living room, met by questioning stares.

"He'll be fine. When he wakes he probably won't even remember much."

"That isn't how it works. He won't remember now, but after a while—"

"How do you know that?" Steve asked, a frown written across his face.

Robyn shrugged. "I... I worked with the Soldier a while ago... I listened. I learned. The memory wipe is temporary. Especially if you only wipe a certain amount of time."

Clint leaned over. "What did you Ah.... work with him on?"

Robyn glared at him. "You really want me to answer THAT?"

The rest of the team looked away, before Tony looked up again. "You said you'd explain Bryn. Why didn't he attack you? What was the point of the song? Seriously."

Sighing, Robyn ran her hand through her still damp hair, fresh from the shower. "I have no idea why the Winter soldier didn't attack me. But he didn't attack before. I mean, when I was... when Hydra had me before. So I assumed..."

"I can't believe non of us knew about the Hydra base, I mean it's like an hour away, that's all." Natasha complained, drawing the conversation away from Robyn, who met her eyes thankfully.

Bruce, looking over at the computer, quizzed, "are we going to alert S.H.I.E.L.D or...."

"I already have."

"Natasha!"

"Look, if Buck can be triggered into... being the soldier that easily... how did they even?.." she turned to Robyn.

"Look, I have no idea. No actual flipping idea. And to answer your next questions, I... the song... it was an experiment."

"Bucky. Is. Not. An. Experiment." Steve hissed.

"You think I don't know that!!! You think I don't KNOW THAT! I SPENT THREE WHOLE FUCKING YEARS BEING INJECTED AGAIN AND AGAIN. NOTHING WORKED, BUT THEY KEPT TRYING, THEN PUNISHED ME WHEN IT DIDN'T WORK. Look at me. Look at me. Look at Bucky. We aren't experiments. Either of us." She exploded, before lowering her voice to an almost whisper,
"They used me to kill hundreds. I've killed more than anyone in this room. More than the Winter soldier. And when I'd finally had enough, when I tried to stop, they put me in Cyro. The song was a wild card. I... Ive worked with the soldier before, as I said, and, his orders, he had orders not to talk. And it's kinda awkward standing alone, so I sang. It helped pass time. I thought he just ignored Me.
Then they ordered him to kill me. I failed a mission. At least in their eyes. But... I guess I wanted a memorable ending. So I sang that song. And he stopped. It... confused him. And he didn't kill me. As you can see. I mean that's kinda obvious."

The rest of the team stared at her.

"You can control the Winter soldier," Clint muttered.

"What! No. No I can't. I just, I think he associates that song with peace. With safety." Robyn looked over at the rest of them, her eyes almost pleading. "Please, can I just go sleep. I'm as tired as hell."

Following their nods she walked shakily out of the room.

"That girl is terrifying sometimes." Bruce murmured.

"Well by the sounds of it, she has cause."

Robyn stumbled down the corridor, the events of the day catching up like a hoard of Rhino's. She was about to crash in her room when she looked across the corridor to Buckys door.

She knocked. A faint voice called her in. Bucky was sitting on the edge of his bed, staring into space. He looked up with a jump when she came in, snapping to attention and pulling on a smile, but he relaxed when he saw It was her.

"Szia*."

"That means hello, right? Hey Bryn."

"Yeah. Yeah it does. How you doing Cica?"

"I've been better. You?"

"Never thought I'd be back there."

"What?"

"That was where I was held. Back when... yeah. I never found out the exact location though."

"Oh.l Bucky stared into space awkwardly. "What... what did I do? What did he... what did he do? I remember.... gunshots..."

Robyn came and sat next to him on the bed. "You did nothing we weren't about to do. Brody escaped though. I'm assuming he gave the order of no survivors. He just wasn't estimating that you wouldn't... fight back against your orders."

"Brody?"

"Victor Brodockian. Brody. Hydra 'general'. Basically a very evil man. Hah, not even that. He isn't even a man anymore, he delights in what he does."

"And you're on nickname terms with him?"

"Well, Yeah.... not as friends though. More... I hate him with every core of my being so a nickname is in order."

"You are remarkably calm about this."

"It's easier to laugh about things than let them get to you." Her reply was short, curt.

"He hurt you?"

"Not.... not this time."

Bucky didn't push it. She wasn't pushing him.

"Christmas in three weeks."

"Sorry?" Bucky queried.

"It's Christmas in three weeks. I just realized."

"I am literally the most broke person on earth, don't expect anything from me."

Robyn started laughing, and Bucky let out a breath he didn't know he'd been holding. She was going to be ok.

"Don't worry about money Cica. Tony reminded me the other day. I'm rolling in cash. Family fortune. Plus I... have... what I call guilt money. Payment for... you know. My work. I usually give it away. Only keep what I need, but recently I haven't exactly had the chance. Plus this means I can give you some, and then you can get me a gift. Haven't celebrated Christmas in years."

"So you gonna Robyn-hood me?"

"That was the worst pun I have ever flipping heard. But yes. Alright, ima go get some sleep. See you Buck."

"See you."

Robyn turned to leave but Bucky called out just as she was leaving, just like before. "Did I hurt you? When I was the soldier?"

The fear in Buckys eyes was evident. Robyn smiled gently. "You could never."

And she left. Bucky lay back and rolled over. And surprisingly, the first time in a while, he had no nightmares. And Robyn, when she came down to breakfast the next morning, ignoring the awkward atmosphere, looked better rested than anyone had ever seen her.
