The party was in full swing by the time Robyn headed down, Bucky just behind her. He hadn't wanted to come, as people there would know him, but after Robyn promised she would stay right beside him, he'd agreed to join them. Thor was laughing with Tony , and Natasha was chatting to Bruce at the bar. The new guy, Sam, was busy playing poker, and Rhodey was talking on one of the many sofas.

Robyn grabbed a drink off a nearby platter, and turned to grin at Buck, who looked more awkward than ever.
"We can go if you really want, or try get drunk or something..."

"Getting drunk sounds good. Oh wait. I can't."

"Is that really a bad thing? Tony once got so brain dead he tried to propose to his wine. Pepper wasn't pleased."

Bucky found a smile rising on his face. "Alright, that's fair."

Robyn gestured to Rhodey. "Wanna go talk to the kapitány*, I don't think he has anything against you, and he actually knows who I am as well."

Bucky answered by heading over to join Rhodey, Robyn just behind him.

"-an I fly it right up to the generals palace, an I'm like, BOOM, you looking for this?!" Rhodey finished proudly.

"Hey Rhodes, what's up?"

"Heya Robyn, mr Barnes. You heard my tale yet?"

Bucky glared at Robyn.

After a while people began to leave, and the avengers, plus Maria, Bucky, Rhodey and Robyn relaxed around the sofas.

Clint soon started to argue with Thor about his hammer, Saying it was just a trick, and quickly made the mistake of taking the bait.

All eyes turned to the spectacle, Thor gesturing to his hammer.
"Please, be my guest,"

Clint shoved himself to his feet, and cockily pulled on the hammer. Robyn grinned as his hand simply slid up the handle.

Then it was Tony's turn. "It's physics," he explained, twisting the strap around his wrist. "And if I lift it, I then rule Asgard?"

"Well Yes," grinned Thor.

Soon Tony had his suit out, still trying to yank on the hammer, determined to lift it, and Rhodey joined to help soon after.

Bruce gave up five minutes after that, lifting his hands in defeat.

Then it was Steve's turn, everyone jesting and cheering him on, no one expecting anything. But Robyn leaned forwards, her interest peaked.

"C'mon Cap!" Tony called, and Steve wrapped his hands around the handle. Soon enough even he'd given up though, the weight to much even for him.

Natasha declined, saying she'd rather not know the answer. Robyn glanced at her as she said this, wondering if that was the real reason.

And then they were jeering on Robyn, who laughingly stepped forward, knowing it would be immovable to anyone but the mighty Thor. She wrapped one hand around the handle, and jokingly pulled. It was lighter than her swords. Immediately she let her grasp go limp, the hammer stationary, and pulling on a fake smile, waved her hand in defeat. As she sat down her felt a gaze burning into her, and turned to see Buck, sitting the other side of Steve, just staring. She shook her head, almost imperceptibly, and he nodded, resigned to the fact she wasn't in the mood to rule Asgard.

But her head was still reeling, and as the rest of the group laughed and chatted, she kept sneaking glances at the hammer, wondering if it had been her imagination.

She couldn't be worthy. She'd killed hundreds.
She couldn't be worthy. That wasn't what an assassin could even think about being.
She couldn't be worthy**.

"You could." Bucky had slipped beside her, unnoticed, and had surely seen the look in her eyes.
"Girl, you gave your own life so a kid could survive, knowing it would kill you. If that's not worthy then I don't know what is."

She smiled awkwardly at him, and nodded. "Don't Ah, mention-"

"Wouldn't dream of it. In fact all I dream about are dead people."

"Same."

The serious conversation turned into a relaxed one as they high fived, and joined back in the conversation.

"Well I have a simpler theory," Thor was saying, "you're all not worthy!"

This was met with a chorus of groans, though Robyn just shook her head at him.

And then a keening noise pierced through the air.

"No. How could you be worthy? You're all killers."

* Hungarian, obviously.

** soo. My choice to make Robyn worthy. It was a big debate for me, and you can see that I chose to not have Bucky pick up the hammer, as it was kinda a no brainer that he could pick up the hammer, and if both of them could it's kinda ridiculous. But as I'm writing so much further forwards in time than this, the difference between the two Robyn, (past and future) is very obvious. And just to draw you in further. I'm scared of Robyn. At least not at this point. But later. ☺️

I didn't give Robyn the hammer because of her kindness, her bravery. Not like Bucky thought. I gave her the hammer, because she has what it takes to get the job done. No matter what. Even if she doesn't realize it yet.
