"-Stark is a sickness!"
"Aww junior, you're going to break your old mans heart!"
Robyn smirked from behind Natasha, hearing this comment , though this was quickly dashed as she took in the situation. Ultron stood, glaring daggers at them, while the Maximoff twins stared from behind. And it didn't help that Buckys words had been playing in her head since they'd left. And she didn't even know why they bothered her so much.
Ultron stepped forwards. Ridiculous name, one of Tony's acronyms probably.
"Only if I have to. I don't plan on breaking anything."
"Clearly you've never made an omelette."
Robyn stopped focusing on the conversation, a skill she'd perfected over the years, and followed behind Natasha as they crept forwards. She caught snippets of the conversation as she went, filing it away for a later date. One thing caught her attention though. Unfortunately, Ultron seemed to have inherited Tony's sass.
And then he attacked. Tony and Ultron slammed together, ricocheting off the walls, spraying glass everywhere. Soon Both her and Natasha were neck deep in a fight, slamming bodies against the walls, the blue glow of Natasha's suit spiraling through the air in time with the silver of Robyn's blades.
Clint was further up the corridor, shooting again and again, Steve and Thor struggling against the twins. As Robyn lost focus she felt her gut cry in pain as a fist slammed into her stomach, doubling over, but soon the man had joined the others on the floor, and was she following Natasha back to the main fight.
But then it happened. Robyn had pulled away from Natasha in the fighting, and spun face to face with Wanda.
She felt the contortions of the red, twisting, glowing powered bind her arms to her sides, and a strong feeling of helplessness came over her as she felt the girl grope at her mind.
No
You may control my body, but my mind is my own
Wanda jerked back as if she'd been burned, staring wide eyed at Robyn.
"You.. you. Never mind. I always get in somehow."
Robyn forced her muscles to relax, and put on a fake smile before pulling that away as she saw the dislike in Wanda's eyes.
"You aren't getting in my head."
"I always do. No normal person can resist. I even have a super soldier under my influence."
"What does normal even mean anymore? I have no super powers. I don't even have a suit. I might live a bit longer than the average person, but what's that, really? And Steve? He is ruled by his heart, not his head. That's why you can get in. They all are. It's why they're heroes...
Wanda please. I understand, please. Stop."
"How could you possibly understand anything?" The girl hissed.
"My dad was killed because of someone's conquest for power. I've seen my friends, my family, die, I get it! But this won't solve anything. Revenge doesn't—"
"Quiet. Now. You may have blocked out your mind, but I can still feel your thoughts. Worry for your team. You.. you don't want them to leave. You're trying to leave your past behind. That will never work. You'll always be a killer. Ooh." Wanda's eyes glinted maliciously. "There seems to be rather a lot in here on a friend of yours. Worry about his health, what he's been through... you seem to care rather a lot for him. I—"
"SHUT UP!" And then she was pulling free of the energy, and Wanda was jumping back, but Robyn didn't strike. She stared at the blades in her hands.
"No. No I'm not a killer. And back off my mind." She turned and ran.
Clint slammed into the ground ahead of her.
"Hey birdie."
"Hey Bryn. You good?"
She nodded as a reply, gesturing to her ear piece.
"We should check on the rest of them. I think Wanda-"
"Yeah I know. How did you avoid-"
"I've done all that before. Same as you."
Clint nodded, and started calling to the rest of the team. When there was no reply, the two assassins locked eyes worriedly, and ran. They found Natasha first, sitting, shaking on the stairs.
And now Tony was saying Hulk was out. This was a mess. Clint pulled Natasha to her feet, and gestured to Robyn to find the others.
"What about Tony?"
"We can't help him—"
"I can still try."
Clint struggled for a moment, before nodding to her. "How you gonna get there quick enough?"
"I'll improvise." And she turned and ran.
"Hey Zseni*, while you're at it, could you send something to pick me up, I'm heading over."
"Robyn, you sure?" The discombobulated voice of Tony ricocheted in her ear. "This is Hulk we're talking about—"
"Just send something over!" She cried, and, taking a leap of faith, jumped from the top of the ship, only to be picked up a moment later by one of Tony's suits.
"Ooh, very nice!" Robyn smirked, ignoring Tony's complaints at the danger of what she'd just done.
"I'm calling Veronica!" She heard Tony sigh, and stopping enjoying the autopilot of the suit, sped forwards.
She soon caught up, and as her, Tony and the separate pieces of the program 'Veronica' charged towards the city, she heard the first shouts.
The Hulk was smashing his way through everything and anything, in a blind, almost drunken rage. The containment unit slammed down, surrounding him, and there was a moment of peace before the ground erupted, and the dust started to fly again.
Following Tony's order Robyn flew out of the Hulks range of sight, letting Tony take the first thunder, as she tried to figure out a way to calm him down. As both of them flew backwards and forwards, like rhinos raving, she started to panic, the dust obscuring her vision, and she felt her heartbeat quicken.
no
Calm down!
What do I do?
What do it do?
What would Bucky do?
Get the people to safety.
She sped to the ground, pulling people back, drawing them from the line of fire. A kid ran out into the road, screaming, crying. Robyn let herself dive to the ground, the Hulk and Tony almost on top of them, getting closer, and closer, and she wasn't going to get there in time, not like this, and she release herself from the suit, and now she was falling, and she hit the ground and rolled, grabbing ,the toddler and throwing her away from the storm of fists that were now on top of her, and she turned to go, then— WHAM.
Robyn flew back, crashing into a wall, and as her vision faded she saw the girl get picked up into friendly arms. She smiled. And then her vision went black.
