It’s been two days and Bridget still won’t answer the phone for me. I cancelled everything that was scheduled for the next two days so I can go home. I pulled into the driveway, but there were not any vehicles there. When I entered the house there was an eerie silence about it. So eerie that it seems like Bridget and the kids had never came home the night of my birthday. As I wandered through the house I decided to try calling Bridget, but she didn’t answer.

“Tia it is, then,” I mumbled out loud as I placed my phone to my ear.

“Hello?” Tia said as she answered the phone.

“Where’s everyone at?” I asked her.

“What do you mean, Luke?” Tia questioned me.

“I’m at the house and it’s empty. Where is everyone?” I asked again.

“Bridget’s enrolling for classes at Vanderbilt this morning and the kids are in with Bridget’s sisters in Kentucky, but Kenzie is with me,” Tia informed me.

“When’s Bridget supposed to be home?” I asked her as I began to panic.

“I don’t know. Kenzie is staying with me tonight. Bridget said she would be back by morning,” Tia told me.

“I’ve got to talk to her. Do you think she’s still at Vandy?” I asked Tia.

“I don’t know, Luke,” Tia answered, “I don’t know what happened between the two of you, but Luke, you need to find her. She’s talking about filing for legal separation and moving out.”

“No!” I screamed in disbelief, “This can’t be happening!”

“I’m sorry, Luke. I know you love her, but if you’re going to fix this, you need to do it quick,” Tia apologized.

“Thank you for telling me,” I said, “Tell Kenzie I love her and I will see her tonight.”

“You’re welcome,” Tia said before I disconnected the call.

I instantly started to my truck and called our lawyer’s office, “Law Office of James Westcott. How may I assist you?”

“It’s Luke Bryan. I need to talk to James immediately,” I told her as I was backing out of the driveway.

“Mr. Bryan, I’m sorry he is in with another client at moment. Can I leave him a message?” the receptionist asked.

“Is it my wife?” I asked, “Is Bridget there?”

“I’m sorry, Mr. Bryan, I can’t provide you with that information,” the receptionist said.

“Dammit!” I yelled, “Rebecca, I know that’s you. Will you please just let me talk to James? It’s important!”

“Hold on, Mr. Bryan,” Rebecca said.

“Luke, what’s going on? I’m in the middle of a meeting,” James said as he picked up the phone.

“Is Bridget there?” I asked him.

“No, Luke. Why would she be?” James answered me without hesitation.

“It’s nothing. Thanks,” I said as I hung up the phone.

I guess that means I’m off to Vanderbilt. It took me thirty minutes to get there and another ten to find Bridget’s truck. I pulled up next to it and sat in wait. After a few minutes I saw Bridget walking across the courtyard. I got out and started walking towards her making sure my hat was pulled down over my eyes. It would be enough that most wouldn’t recognize me, but I knew Bridget would. I was about fifty yards away from her when Bridget looked up and saw me. She shook her head, but continued towards me.
