It’s been a week since we got back to the Deer Camp. All of the Buck Commander guys had arrived by the time we got back. Bridget has had terrible nightmares every night that are only fully settled in the morning by a phone call from Luke. I try my best to calm her down enough to sleep, but sometimes it just don’t work. I lay in bed with Jason waiting for her next outburst of terrifying screams to erupt tonight. I don’t think I have slept at night since we arrived. Normally just naps during the day when everyone else can tend to Bridget.

Tonight Bridget has had three nightmares since she went to bed at ten. It’s now three o’clock and I feel like I might actually be able to doze off, but Jason’s phone rings.

“Jason, your phone is ringing,” I told him as I gently shook him.

“Who the hell is calling me at this hour?” Jason asked.

“I don’t know,” I told Jason as he reached for his phone.

I sat up in the bed knowing that it couldn’t be good news.

“Hello,” Jason said groggily, “Kerri? What? Kidnapped?...How am I supposed to tell Bridget?....I can’t keep it from her. She’s going to see the news….I’ll do what I can…Get her doctor here as soon as possible… I’ll take care of everything here.”

“What’s going on?” I asked with great concern.

“That deranged, mad man kidnapped Luke tonight after the show,” Jason informed me, “We’ve got to get a hold of things here before Bridget gets up.”

“He what?” I questioned in shock.

“Sick bastard took him at gunpoint in front of Kerri and his entire security team. Had the gun to his head,” Jason explained, “We need to wake everyone up and figure out what to do before Bridget wakes up.”

“Okay,” I said as we both got out of bed.

We started waking everyone up, telling them we had news we had to tell everyone. It was maybe fifteen minutes later everyone was sitting in the living room waiting for our announcement in the middle of the night.

“What is so important that ya’ll had to drag us out of bed at three in the morning?” Adam asked.

“Luke has been kidnapped,” Jason informed everyone, “Kerri called a little bit ago and said that that man took him at gunpoint when he got back to the bus after his show tonight. They have no clue where he took Luke, but Bridget’s doctor is on her way here to make sure Bridget and the babies are going to be okay. We are going to have to tell her when she gets up. She has to hear this from us before she sees the news. Kerri said it’s already viral.”

“Brit, you need to go upstairs and take Bridget’s phone. She’ll check it when she gets up and see what has happened before we can tell her,” Jennifer told me as the group nodded in agreement.

“I’ve already done that. It’s turned off and in Jason’s suitcase. That’s the only place she wouldn’t think to look,” I explained to the group.

Everyone rushed around to get everything done before Bridget got out of bed. Jennifer and I were in the kitchen making breakfast for everyone. All the guys were in the living room tending to the kids who were awake. It would be a matter of time before Bridget was awake.

“You should be the one to tell her,” Jennifer told me.

“Why me?” I asked.

“Brittany, you are her best friend. There’s only one person in this world that she trusts and loves as much. And he’s missing. She’s not going to take the news well anyways, but it will be better if it comes from you,” Jennifer explained.
