As I finished reading what Bridget had wrote there were tears flowing down my face. There was always a letter from Bridget, yet I never expected it. I couldn't have asked for a better wife and mother for my children. I wanted to have them turn this plane around and go home to my wife and kids. I knew as much as I hated leaving and hated being away from my family but, Bridget would never forgive me if I turned around and went home. I went through this every time I left. I can't even begin to describe how it felt missing on all of those moments I miss out on while I'm gone. But maybe I can. I pulled out the notebook Bridget always made sure to have in my bag and started writing.

"Luke," Carter said, "We're landing."

"I've just got to finish this real quick," I told him as I jotted the last few lines down that were in my head.

"What are you writing?" Carter asked, "You have been scribbling in that notebook since you got on the plane."

"It's a song," I told him as I finally finished and shoved the notebook back into my bag.

"Can I read it?" Carter asked curiously.

"When we get to the bus. I want to get the music down before I call Bridget," I told him.

Nothing more was said as we exited the plane. There was a car waiting for us to take us to the bus and as soon as we I made sure to text Bridget.

Baby, we are here. Carter and I are working on something. I'll call you as soon as we're done. Love ya.

I didn't expect a text back so we started figuring how this should go. We weren't very far in and my phone buzzed. I picked it up wondering who was texting me at this time of the night. It was Bridget.

Glad you made it. What on earth are you working on at this time of night? You are bound to be tired. Love ya.

I smiled. Bridget knows me too well. I had gotten so used to being in bed by nine or ten at the latest that I was exhausted, but I just couldn't put this song down.

It's a song that I wrote on the way here. Carter and I are writing the music now. I got the lyrics during the flight. I can't wait for you to hear it. I'll sing it for you when I call before bed. Love ya.

I sat my phone down on my lap knowing Bridget would text me back fairly quick and continued working on the song. Moments later my phone buzzed again.

Oh, I can't wait to hear it. I'm sure it's amazing. I'm going to lay down for a bit. Keegan and Kinley just went to sleep. Call me as soon as you are done. Love ya.

I smiled again, but this time it must have been big enough for Carter to notice. He shook his head and smiled really big.

I will, baby. Talk to you soon. I love you.

I sat my phone on the counter and grabbed a bottle of water out of the fridge.

"Bridget?" Carter asked as I sat back down with him on the couch.

"Yeah," I told him, "I told her I would call when I got here, but I just have to finish this first."

"I didn't think I would ever see you this happy," Carter said as he strummed on his guitar.

"Honestly, I didn't think I would ever be this happy. She's my world, my everything. I don't know what I would do without her," I told him as I picked my guitar up and started strumming along with him.

With that being said we jumped back into figuring out the music for the song. It took us about an hour to finish the music, but not before we had a few creative differences on what we thought for the song. I won the long run. I had a specific sound I wanted for the song. It just took a little bit to get Carter on the same page.
