It’s been a rocky few days. Bridget and I have fought about everything there was to possibly fight about. It was getting really old really quick. I really don’t know how much of it I can stand.
“I’m telling you now, if you don’t take it you will be regretting it in a few hours,” Bridget told me.
“But I don’t feel like I need it. I think I’m over your morning sickness,” I explained.
“Do whatever, but I’m telling you,” Bridget informed me while being clear on her opinion.
Why does she have to think she knows what’s best all the time? It’s aggravating really aggravating me today. I walked out of the bus door and Kerri was waiting for me.
“What’s wrong with you?” Kerri asked me.
“Nothing,” I said as I walked towards the car to take us to the radio station for an on air interview.
“It’s Bridget coming?” Kerri questioned me.
I just shrugged my shoulders as I opened the car door and got in. A few minutes later Bridget and Kerri got in and we were on the road.
“I don’t know what your problem is, but ya’ll need to fix this before we get to the station,” Kerri demanded while gesturing towards Bridget and I.
“I don’t have a problem,” Bridget said to Kerri, “But apparently Luke does.”
“My problem is you!” I yelled at her.
“Fine! When we get to the station I’ll call a cab and go home,” Bridget yelled back at me.
“Whatever,” I said as I turned to look out the window.
At this moment, for some strange reason, I didn’t care if Bridget left and went home.
“Do we have time to swing by Starbucks?” Bridget asked Kerri.
“Yeah. There’s one right up here. What do you want?” Kerri questioned.
“Venti Veranda coffee with 2 shots of hazelnut syrup and creamer,” Bridget answered.
“Okay. Do you want anything, Luke?” Kerri asked me.
“Same thing,” I answered without even looking her direction.
Seconds later the car came to a stop and Bridget and I were left alone with the driver as Kerri went to get our coffee.
“What is your problem?” Bridget asked me.
“You,” I said without looking at her which I knew she absolutely hated.
“Would you look at me?” Bridget asked in an aggravated tone.
“I don’t feel like it right now,” I told her.
“That’s not a good enough answer. Luke, look at me,” Bridget said as she grabbed my arm.
I shook her off.
“Luke,” she said barely audible, “Do you want me to go home?”
“Bridget, I don’t really care,” I told her looking at her for the first time since we have both been in the car.
“I’ll go home then,” Bridget responded as she turned towards the window.
We sat in silence until Kerri was back with our coffee about 15 minutes later. She passed us our coffee and we rode the rest of the way to the station just as we were, miles apart. I got out of the car and met Kerri at the door.
“Are you seriously going to let her leave?” Kerri asked while stopping me from going in the doors.
“If she wants to go, she’s going to go,” I told her trying to open the door again.
