Few days earlier:
It was still the start of the festival and the people of the Cupid Town had no way of celebrating it with their lack in funds.
Though the certain village is termed to be termed legendary the government didn't do anything other than failing to help them, while also imposing high amount of taxes on the commoners.
It was at this time of crisis that, Prince Zenon Charming passed the town for a private exertion. When, the problem was taken to his notice, he immediately offered to fund the people using the money from his own treasury.
And, when the people showed signs of displeasure for troubling this naturally kind hearted prince so much, Zeno further made an announcement for the people to give him anything they could afford. So, that they wouldn't feel guilty about Zeno's unconditional favour.
The news about the refunding of the Cupid Festival by the Second Prince was spread all around the town. Soon, there stood a great line in the center where the young prince sat on a throne like chair and the people offered him every wage they could afford.
Goats, fruits, copper coins, cattle, sets of clothes, bread..
Zeno had a tough time choosing the stuff he can really use on his daily life. He scratched his head with a pencil as people continued to offer useless stuff to him. But, had to accept them all with a light professional smile in order to not disappoint them.
A deep sigh escaped from Zeno's lips as he saw the unending list before him.
"You deserve it, your majesty.."
Kuro, who was standing beside Zeno's chair commented with a smile. His other men were also standing next to him. But, they were busy taking the penniless gifts the people brought them.
"This is what happens if you become too indulged with the poor and continue helping them even when you shouldn't."
Zeno looked at Kuro with bored eyes.
Kuro was a practical man. He might be sharp and smart like Zeno. He was his perfect aide who understands him more than anyone. But, he wasn't an emotional sort of person. He never feels pity for his subordinates nor could he even understand their pain. That must probably be the reason why he could arraign every single 'useless' decision his boss makes.
But, however Zeno wasn't like that at all. Perhaps, being born as an adopted 'bastard' prince prone to several death threats molded him like this. Zeno always made his best to help those abandoned by the state as worthless just because they lacked the oppourtunity to shine. Because, he personally emphasised their situation.
"I never do any of these things expecting something in return.."
He replied Kuro back with his usual non chalant face and turned back to fake smiling.
Kuro simply let out a deep sigh and continued standing next to Zeno.
As you can see, Zeno was just like that. His kind actions often goes unmentioned by the rest of the world. His true qualities as a strong leader are often honey coated as being weak.
But, however though it is all like this, unknown to everyone, if the fate decided to bless him, then Zeno would still be blessed.
"Your majesty!!"
A solider from Squad 7 suddenly rushed towards Zeno's table running past the queue with a rich looking jewelery box on his arm.
He stretched his hand while still holding the box in a hurry before the young prince and gasped.
