S1 Chapter 4: Beginning of the 57th Expedition

Y/N was sitting on a staircase near the gate of the castle and he heard a horse coming near. He peeked outside and saw Levi

"Assemble!" Y/N shouted

Gunther, and Eld ran to Y/N and Levi stopped in front of them.

"Good morning, Captain Levi!" Eren greeted Levi

"Get ready to leave. We're heading to the assembly." Levi said

"Sir!" The four replied

"Listen, Eren. Stay within two horses of me. Don't forget the only reason you're not locked up is because I'm supervising you." Levi said

"Sir!" Eren replied

"Let's go." Levi said

The four followed Levi with Eld and Levi on the front, Eren in the middle, and Y/N was at the back with Gunther.

A week later, Y/N was sitting on the grass with Eld, Eren, and Gunther. Behind them were Lilith, Levi, Oluo and Petra.

"We the Elite Squad will be here, in the center here." Gunther said

"That's a quite far back." Eren said

"It's the safest position in this formation. Even more secure than where the supply wagons are. Well, we don't have a real objective this time. The expedition won't cover much ground since it's just a test run before getting you to Shiganshina District." Gunther said

"Um... I still don't have any idea how to use this power yet." Eren said

"Eren, did you understand what Commander Erwin asked you before?" Y/N asked

"Did any of you understand?" Eren asked

"No." Y/N replied

"Of course not. I'd be lying if I said I knew for sure." Oluo said

Oluo was about to say something, but he was cut off by Gunther.

"This operation may have another objective. However, the Commander decided to keep that hidden from everyone. So we should just focus on pulling this off without incident. Trust in the Commander." Gunther said

"Sir." Eren replied

"This concludes today's training. Prepare to head back." Gunther said

Y/N just returned to his room after helping Eren clean horse shit.

"Ha~ I'm tired." Y/N jumped on his bed

"Sure you are." Lilith said

"What're you doing here?" Y/N asked

"Nothing. Petra-chan hasn't opened the locks of the room yet so I'm staying here." Lilith said

"How'd you enter here then?" Y/N asked

"Your door wasn't locked." Lilith said

"I see." Y/N said

"What's the noise outside?" Y/N asked

"I heard earlier the new recruits would arrive by now." Lilith said

Y/N looked outside and saw Eren talking with Mikasa and Armin along with his other friends. The three noticed Y/N looking at them from the window and Y/N just smiled and waved at them.

Y/N was proud at them when he saw them wearing the Survey Corps capes.

"Tch. They grew up so fast in five years." Y/N laughed

"You must be proud of them." Lilith asked looking at them from beside Y/N

"Of course I am." Y/N said

"But there'll be no person prouder than their parents. I don't know about Eren's mom though." Y/N laughed

"I wonder what does it feel like to be a parent." Lilith said

"Who knows?" Y/N said

"Parents." Lilith said

"Huh?" Y/N looked at her

"Nothing." Lilith said

Lilith puts her hand on Y/N's shoulder despite their differences in height.

"I'll be going back to my room now." Lilith said patting Y/N's shoulder

"Yeah." Y/N said

"See you, Y/N." Lilith left the room and closed the door

"Yeah, see you." Y/N said

After a few weeks, Eren underwent countless experiments and trainings from Hange and the Levi Squad and the newly recruited scouts (scoutlets) also received training from other Squad Leaders in the Survey Corps, they were now getting ready.

They are in front of the gate of the walls, waiting for it to open.

"Commander Erwin, we're departing soon." A soldier told Erwin

"We've lured away all nearby Titans!"

"Thirty seconds until the gate closes!"

The soldiers from the Garrison said

Eren was in between Lilith and Y/N and the rest of the Levi Squad surrounded him.

"It's the Survey Corps! The coolest soldiers inside the walls!" Y/N heard a kid

Eren noticed two children looking at him in awe.

"It's the Survey Corps!" The boy said

"The mark on their backs is called the Wings of Liberty, you know!" The boy told the little girl beside him

"So cool!" The little girl said

Eren smiled at the two kids and Y/N smiled at him.

"I'm sure Aunt Carla is proud of what you've become even if she didn't like the idea of you joining the Scouts." Y/N said as he pats Eren

"Yeah. Thank you, Y/N-san." Eren thanked him

"It's time! In mere moments, mankind will advance again. Show us what you're made of!" A soldier shouted

The Scouts raised their blades and they let out their cries

"Open the gate!" A soldier shouted and they started raising the gate

"Forward!" Erwin shouted and their horses started running

"We now begin the 57th Expedition!" Erwin shouted

"Advance!" Erwin shouted
