"Dad?" Voice small, the boy let himself walk up to where his father stood in the kitchen with his head down. Keeping those heaviness of his hands placed against the counter, even if he was quick to raise them up to his face. Wiping away those tears lingering amongst his skin almost instantly as he looked over at the one boy who he could barely see upon the moonlight.
"Why are you up, YeJun-ah? Huh?" He sniffled down the rest of his tears. Having cleared his throat as he did so, only to watch the boy move closer to his frame. The same boy who did nothing more than look up at him ever so tiredly.
"A-are you crying?" Yoongi could've sworn his heart had broke right then and there. Seeing as though he'd never let his son see him this way. See him standing in the kitchen and all alone. All while those tears leave his eyes. Because everything was catching up with him. The stress. The anxiety. The constant worry of whether or not his family would still be alive each times he'd come home. And it was killing him. Killing him slowly.
"You know I don't cry, YeJun-ah." In a sniffle, Yoongi laughed down at the boy. Having tousled his son's hair, only to make YeJun's eyes go completely round. Because he could hear it. Could hear that subtle wavering of his father's voice. His same father who he knew would hide everything from him. Afraid to ever make the boy worry. Afraid to ever make the boy seem as though he wasn't strong.
"You don't have to lie to me, dad—"
"YeJun—"
"Mom said it's good to cry." YeJun met his eyes. The gesture alone enough to make Yoongi's own begin to sting as he noticed that worry captive in his son's gaze. Worry that Yoongi never wanted the boy to ever hold. It being the same boy who was slowly beginning to understand the things around him more. Understand his father's tears. Understand those fights between his parents that'd just barely escape underneath their bedroom door.
"It is good to cry, YeJun-ah—"
"Th-then why don't you cry?" He watched as he tilted his head. Making those tears in his father's eyes want to fall ever so desperately, even if Yoongi did no more than laugh all over again. Placing that heaviness of his hand upon his son's head, only to look down at the boy who he loved more than anything. And the one boy who he never thought he'd get to experience having in life.
"You know I have to stay strong for you and your mom. And you don't want to see her cry because of me, right?" Yoongi kept his hand placed against the boy's head. The same boy who only sighed with a quiet no. All while Yoongi grinned down at him. Ignoring every inch of heartache captive in his soul. Because he knew. Knew he couldn't live with himself if something were to happen to his own son. . . due to him.
"Now try and get some sleep for me, huh? You know your mom hates when you stay up this late." Yoongi watched as he sighed. Able to see all that fatigue within the boy's frame, in which he gestured his head over towards his bedroom. Making YeJun do no more than listen to his father himself as Yoongi let out that heavy I love you. Knowing that he needed to say it more, even if it was so taboo to him. But he'd try. Try anything when it came to those he loved.
And with a sigh, YeJun let out that same I love you too. All while Yoongi watched. Watched him go to the other side of the house. Watch him leave him all alone just like he was a few minutes ago. Allowing for the man to release that breath so heavy within his system. Because the man was trying. Trying so hard to not completely cave.
So, he made himself swallow down those tears. Walking back over to his own bedroom, only to catch sight of his love lying there on the bed completely asleep. All while her hand stayed placed amongst his side of the bed. Having always kept herself cuddled up next to the man who let himself take place beside her. Earning her palm against his torso almost instantly, all while her eyes just barely flickered open at the man.
