Chapter 15

Tahimik kaming naglalakad sa hallway ng asylum. Kabi kabila ang ingay na maririnig. May iba pa na dumudungaw sa maliit na silipan sa pinto nila tapos biglang sisigaw at tatawa. Yung iba naman kwarto ay tahimik lang.

I'm so used to this kind of environment. From the very beginning, when I made up my mind to walk on this path of career, my goal has remained the same. That is, to cure and give care to these people with mental illness. They're still human, no matter how crazy they are.

Kasama ko ang tatlong nurses at nasa likod ko lamang sila. Patungo kami ngayon sa nasabing pasyente na naka assigned sa akin.

"Nandito na po tayo Doc."- sabi ng isa na may hawak ng susi.

Binuksan naman nya ang pinto. Ako na ang nagtulak niyon pabukas.

"Po? Sigurado po ba kayo?"- takang tanong ng isa. Nagtinginan pa silang tatlo.

"Pero Doc--"

"Intayin nyo nalang ako dito sa labas."- pagputol ko sa iba pa nyang sasabihin at tuluyan na akong pumasok.

Tanging ang liwanag lang mula sa bintanang mataas ang syang nagbibigay liwanag sa buong kwarto.

Lumingon ako sa higaan ng marinig ko ang pagtunog ng bakal.

The patient is there. Sitting at the corner of the bed while looking at me emotionlessly.

He has a semi-bald haircut and piercings in his nose and on both sides of his ears. He also has a tattoo on his arms. He's kind of skinny, but there are still muscles if you just look properly.

I glanced at the closed door before pulling the chair to put it on the side of his bed.

Maiging kong pinagmasdan kung gagalaw ba sya at susundan ang galaw ko pero hindi naman. Nanatili itong nakatulala.

"Hello Hendrick. I am Doctor Corpuz, and I will be your doctor until you become better."- I said after I sat down on the chair.

Hindi pa din sya natinag mula sa pagkakatulala.

"Kamusta ka?"

May susunod pa sana akong tanong pero hindi ko na tinuloy ng dahan dahan syang lumingon sa gawi ko.

Wala pa din emosyon sa mga mata nya. Inayos ko ang pagkakaupo ko ng mapansin na tinanggal nya ang pagkakayakap sa mga tuhod nya.

He stretched his legs while still staring at me. Umusod pa sya palayo sa dingding habang nakamasid sa akin.

"Do you have something to say?"- malumanay na tanong ko.

My breath hitched when he quickly jumped off the bed to corner me in my chair.

His hot breath was fanning out on the side of my neck.

He began smelling me, and now he is busy smelling my hair.
