It's the day before school starts. I open my eyes at the realization. I slowly get up and stretch, my back and shoulders tight from sleeping. Rica is at the foot of my bed, sound asleep. I grab my phone from the nightstand beside my bed and check the time.

11:57 am. Wonderful.

Dad installed a dog door on the back door downstairs and one on the door to my room, so Rica can come and leave as she pleases. There is a lock on both of course, but we only lock the back door at night. My dad agrees to unlock it every morning when he wakes up, since he likes to wake up around 7 am every day.

It's too late to stall the inevitable, so I get out of my new bed. I had only unpacked some clothing, my toiletries, Ricochet's things, and my bed sheets and blankets. I go straight to the bathroom, passing a lightly snoring foxhound.

It's time to start my morning routine. Maybe it should be called a waking-up routine, because I never seem to wake up before noon unless I have to.

I go into my new bathroom and brush my hair and teeth, and then do my skincare routine. Once I'm done, I leave the bathroom and open my closet. I decide on a flowy, white skirt and a pale yellow tank top that exposed a bit of my stomach. I spray on my favorite perfume, Valentino: Born in Roma, and head downstairs.

I hear the sound of four paws hitting the floor and turn to see Ricochet following me. I walk down the staircase and my dad is nowhere in sight. I move on to the next part of my routine: tea. I've never been one to eat after I wake up, but I always drink tea every morning. I've never been a coffee person like the rest of my family, so my dad and mom give me an entire drawer for my teas. I open the cabinets below where my dad set the coffee-maker, and see that there is a whole shelf dedicated to tea. I smile and grab my favorite: Matcha Green Tea.

I love my dad.

I grab a kettle from the tea shelf and heat up water. As I'm waiting for the water to boil, I hear sounds coming from the garage.

I walk over and go in to see my dad organizing his rifle collection. He turns to me and smiles.

"Good morning, sweetie! Or should I say, afternoon?" I roll my eyes.

"Good morning to you too, Dad." He walks over and kisses my forehead.

"I fed Ricochet when she came down this morning to go outside. Also, Mom and Allison are driving down today. They'll be here tonight." I nod my head.

"Thank you for the tea shelf." My dad smiles at me and wraps his arms around me, pulling me into a hug.

"Of course, sweetie. I grabbed all your favorites at the store yesterday, and your own kettle! I kept everything in the boxes, so you can organize it however you wish." I nod to my dad in thanks.

"I'm going to get my tea."

"Ok, I'll be out in a few minutes." I leave the garage and make my tea. I decide to stand in the kitchen, leaning against the tea and coffee cabinets.

My dad comes into the kitchen and reaches into a cupboard to grab a glass.

"What are your plans for today, since Cel won't be home till late?" my dad asks, filtered water filling his cup from the fridge.

"I think I'm just going to unpack and go shopping for some organizational things. I'm going to wait for Cel to buy room decor. We both wanted to do it together."

"That sounds like a productive day. I'll be in the garage working and organizing all day, so you'll find me there if you need me." I nod at my dad in understanding.

"I'm going to go upstairs and start unpacking." I smile at my dad before turning to go back to my room, Ricochet following me like always.

I had set up all my moving boxes against the wall with my window. I grab the top one that says "shelves and curtains." Ricochet hops on my bed and watches me take 30 minutes to put up a simple curtain. I then grab wall shelves, a drill, and screws from the box and begin putting shelves up above my bed.
