After receiving Cel's call, I rushed over from the plant. Everyone tried to stop me, but I had to check on him. Cel sounded so afraid.
"I'm here! I'm here!" I scream as I run into the apartment. "Isaac!" I rush into Cel's room to find Isaac trembling on the floor, his face covered in a cold sweat. Cel and Dad are hunched over him. I run over and jolt as I grab his face. "He's freezing. Dad, he's like ice," I panic.
"Isaac, look at me. Isaac," Dad grabs him.
"What's happening to him?" Cel asks.
"Isaac, come on!" Dad makes him meet his eyes. "Isaac, listen. You have to turn." Isaac's gaze is till unfocused, and the shivering hasn't stopped. "Look at me." Dad then slaps him hard across the face. "You need to trigger it. Come on. Turn!" Dad begins to punch him.
"Dad!" I cry as I watch him beat Isaac up.
Isaac glares at him, his eyes shining bright Beta yellow. He growls.
"Isaac!" I pull him into my embrace. His eyes go back to their deep blue and he pants against my chest.
"Did you see them?" He whispers, tears leaking from his eyes.
"Who?" Cel asks, staring at him intently with worry.
"There were 5 of them," Isaac says, a tear falling down his cheek. "They wore black. I couldn't... I couldn't see their faces. They were covered."
"What do you mean? Like masks?" Cel asks. I wipe another tear from his face with the pad of my thumb.
"One of them... I could see his eyes," he whimpers. "They were greenish-yellow. Like a... like a firefly." Dad's eyes widen and he stands up. He walks over to Cel's window and checks the security system.
"The security system wasn't triggered," he tells us.
"Then how did they get in?" I wonder.
"They didn't," Isaac tells us, meeting my gaze. "It was like they came out of the shadows." Cel and I look up at Dad. He gets a knowing look on his face.
"Dad, do you know what that means?" I ask him. "Dad?"
"Um..." he meets our eyes. "I'm not sure. Listen, the 3 of you... I need you to keep this quiet for a few hours."
"From everyone?" Isaac asks.
"Dad, they have to know," I shake my head.
"Just 24 hours," Dad states.
"They could've killed him, Dad!" I exclaim, vehemently refusing his request.
"But they didn't," he states quietly. "And I think there's a reason why. I think they might've been after me." He then walks out.
Cel and I gawk at each other.
After Dad? What could he have to do with any of this?
I get a call from Stiles. "Hey-"
