I love sleeping.

It's my favorite thing.

Especially after a long trip to Mexico where I had to fight hunters and rescue my mate.

And especially after a super intense tryst in the sheets.

There is nothing I love more than sleeping in late.

Waking up at noon and then staying up till 3 am.

The dream.

I just want to sleep all day and wake up when I choose. No interruptions.

"Love."

I snatch the hand touching me in a death grip.

"Don't even think about it, Derek," I growl. "If you know what's good for you, you'll leave me alone and let me sleep past noon."

"Rica?" Derek calls for her. I hear her walk up to the bed and she jumps on me.

"Oof! Rica, no!" I whine. She gets off and snuggles next to me. "Good girl. Listen to me, not Derek." I start to drift back to sleep.

"Hana, you have-"

"Don't say it! Don't, Derek!"

"-School." I scream into my pillow. "Wake up, love. I want to see my mate's beautiful face."

"If you think your sweet lines will help me forgive you for waking me up on my birthday, you are out of your mind," I pout, keeping my face in the pillows.

"But I made you breakfast."

I shoot up. "You did?"

Dang it. I hate when my anger dissipates because of his sweetness. I'm too soft.

"Yes," he chuckles. "Happy 17th, Hana Argent." He leans in and engulfs me in a deep, toe-curling kiss.

I moan and grip his thick hair. He tastes like coffee, his own essence adding the sweetness of sugar and cream.

Maybe I do like coffee.

"As much as I want to kiss you forever, we're on a schedule," Derek breaks away.

"Derek, no," I pout. "Come back here," I make "grabby" hands.

"Nope. Your cuteness won't work on me. Not today," he shakes his head.

"But-"

"Go eat your breakfast, little mate. Before I feed you myself," he lightly threatens. I roll my eyes but grab the food.

"At least put on a shirt. There's no need to tempt me," I mumble. He rolls his eyes but puts on some clothes.

He made a fruit salad, scrambled eggs, bacon, and a glass of pineapple juice. Yum!

I dig right in.

"Your dad called. He wants to go on a hike after school with you, Rica, and Allison," Derek tells me.
