"I'm going after him," Derek announces before racing off after the Kanima. I exhale a long sigh, staring after my mate.

These past few days, I feel like I barely recognize him. In the span of 48 hours, he's managed to change from loving, caring, kind Derek to rage, cold, unremorseful. He planned to kill one of my best friends.

I shake my head as I turn away. I grab Lydia's hand and motion Cel to follow us to my car. "I'll drive you home, Lydia." She nods and we pile into the car, Cel in the back while Lydia sits in passenger.

The entire drive is silent, neither of us knowing what to say to her. I park the car in front of her house and we just sit in silence. Cel takes a deep breath before leaning over the center console and faces Lydia.

"I need you to promise that you won't say anything about what just happened," she tells her.

"I'll promise not to say anything about what just happened if you can tell me what the hell just happened," she freaks out.

"It's... it's kind of complicated," I sigh.

"Well, how about you start with why Derek was there? Or where Jackson went, or what is wrong with Erica?" she asks me, knowing my close relationship with all 3. I look down, not knowing how to respond. "Oh, do you need a minute to come up with some plausible lie?"

"Part of the reason why I'm asking is because Scott and I aren't supposed to be seeing each other, ok?" Cel takes her attention off of me. "So it's better if you just keep what you know to yourself."

"Fine. I'll keep what I know about you and your boyfriend, which is nothing, to myself," Lydia moves to get out of the car.

"Hey," Cel stops her. "He's not just my boyfriend. You get that, right?"

"Let me go," Lydia orders her.

"Just for one second, please. Try and remember-"

"Remember what?" Lydia screams.

"Remember what it feels like," I lay my hand on top of hers. "All of those times in school when you see him standing down the hall and you cannot breathe until you're with him." My mind goes to Derek and I have to swallow down a small cry as my eyes begin to tear. "Or those times in class when you... you can't stop looking at the clock because you know that he's standing right out there waiting for you." I turn away from Lydia's gaze, stunned at my speech. I wipe the tears falling down my cheeks as memories of Derek and I surface.

"Don't you remember what that's like?" Cel pleads.

"No," Lydia quietly says.

"What do you mean 'no?' You've had boyfriends," Cel states.

"None like that," she whispers back before getting out of the car. Cel and I watch as she enters her house before leaving to drive home.

When we pull into the driveway, Cel moves to get out of the car. When she notices I'm not, she stops and gives me a confused look.

"Hana, aren't you coming inside?"

"No," I shake my head. "I'm going to meet up with Scott and Stiles. We have to find Jackson before Derek does. If Derek finds him, he will try to kill him."

"I'll come with you," she offers, but I refuse.

"No, Cel. This is between me and Derek," I sigh. "Plus, one of us needs to stay home so that Mom isn't suspicious. If you're home, maybe it will be easier to convince her that you weren't sneaking out to see Scott."

"Good point," she accepts in defeat. "Stay safe, ok?"

"I always do," I chuckle. She leans over and kisses my cheek before heading inside. As soon as I see the door close, I grab my phone and text Stiles to send me their location.
