"A little farther," Braeden grunts as we pull Isaac across the asphalt.
"Come on, Isaac! Stay with us!" I wipe some more blood away from his eyes as I help Braeden pull.
Please, Isaac. Stay with us. Please. We're so close.
"He's losing so much blood," I whimper through my exhaustion, eyeing his bloody wounds on his chest.
"He'll live. The scratches aren't that deep. We just need to trigger the healing process," Braeden assures me as we spot a car in the distance. "I have an idea. Come on." I help Braeden pull him over. "We need his chest exposed."
I fall to my knees and rip his shirt open, crying as I see his blood-smeared chest. Braeden grabs a pair of jumpstart cables from the car and pops the hood open, attaching them.
"I'm so sorry," I whisper as she comes over with the wires in her hands, realizing what she plans to do. She leans down and puts one on each of his pecs when I step back. A large jolt of electricity shocks him conscious, and I let out a loud sigh of relief.
He grunts and writhes in pain as Braeden continues her electric assault. His eyes flash bright yellow and I watch as his wounds begin to heal faster.
"Quiet," she shushes him as she pulls the cable away. The wounds are still there, but they'll heal faster now that he's fully functioning again. That mega-Alpha really did a number on him. "We have to hurry. Let's go!" Braeden ushers us as we help him up, resting his arms on each of our shoulders.
"Stay with me. We're almost there," I grunt as we get closer to her bike.
"My neck," Isaac groans.
"From their claws," Braeden explains to him. "It's how they share memories."
"But I don't remember anything."
"Also how they steal them," she adds, stopping once we reach the bike. "Listen to me. No matter what happens you guys hold on, ok?" Braeden orders both of us. "You hold on tight." Isaac and I nod in understanding and we get on, me sitting in the middle while Braeden drives and Isaac wraps his arms around my waist, resting his head on my shoulder. She hands me the spare helmet and puts hers on while wrapping her fingers around the clutch. The engine revs and we speed off, making our escape.
We ride down the empty streets, Braeden sharply turning as she steers. I feel Isaac lift his head off.
"I hear something," he panickedly tells us. "Someone's coming!" He and I look back to see one of the twins quickly gaining on us. I shriek as he appears next to the bike, still running.
"Faster!" I cry as I see his eyes gleam red and him open his mouth to expose razor-sharp fangs. The engine revs and we speed past the werewolf.
Our relief is short-lived, however, as we look to our other side and see him next to us. He scratches the bike and it jerks, but Isaac and I hold on tight as Braeden keeps driving. We look back again to see both of the twins now chasing us.
"Two of them?" Isaac exclaims in shock. I nod, remembering that he had his memory of the night wiped. The twins catch up to us, one on either side, and they both move to scratch the bike. The tires squeal as Braeden tries to swerve their advances. One of them almost scratches my leg and I glare at him.
"Hey! That wasn't nice! These boots are brand new," I pout through the helmet. He smirks at me before swiping at the bike again. "Stop it!"
"No," he chuckles at my childish retorts. Braeden turns sharply and I feel the bike almost fall to its side. Isaac and I squeal as it rights itself.
As we're riding ahead, a truck is advancing across our path. Isaac and I shut our eyes as Braeden swerves around it, just missing it from hitting us. We look ahead and see a metal wall ahead of us, and we're pretty sure Braeden is going at least 60 mph.
