I'm sitting on my bed reading another one of my romances when I hear my phone ring. I set my shirtless-pirate-covered book down and see one of my best friends calling. I pick up the phone.
"Hi Collette! How are you?" Collette is one of my childhood best friends. We were constantly moving for my dad's job so it was hard to keep friends. She's the only one I'm still in contact with.
"Hey Hana! I'm good besides the fact that school is trying to kill me with all these assignments. How is Beacon Hills? That's where you moved, right?" she asks.
"It's nice. I've made a bunch of friends," I reply.
"I heard about the animal attack and the bus driver," she tells me. "Beacon Hills seems to have a lot of those. I mean, I searched 'animal attacks Beacon Hills CA' and a long list showed up."
"Oh yeah. It's really weird. The first night, I met these guys named Stiles and Scott. They roped me into searching for a dead body."
"What?" Collette yells into the phone. "That's so crazy! Did you find it?"
"No," I tell her. "But I think Scott saw it that night. Stiles and I got separated from Scott, and I found them looking for the body in the woods the next day when I was walking Rica."
"That is so cool! Nothing ever happens here! Your life is so interesting now." I laugh at my friend.
"Yeah, murders and animal attacks are the exact type of drama I need in my life right now," I say with heavy sarcasm.
"I guess it's not the best, especially since you hoped that you could have a normal sophomore year after the Cameron-thing."
"That's true, but a lot of good has come out of moving here," I tell her.
"Like what?" she asks me.
I tell her about all the new friends I've made. I tell her about eating with Boyd at lunch, watching lacrosse with Stiles on the bench, talking with Lydia about fashion and her helping me out with math, and how confusing Stiles is.
"He has this obsession with gay guys being attracted to him," I tell Collette. "Stiles is great, but he likes to use humor at the wrong times. He uses sarcasm a lot."
"We need to be friends," Collette references Stiles.
"Oh yes, you would love him! He's really nice," I tell her.
"How is Allison adjusting to all of this?" she asks. "I remember you telling me that she was hesitant about the move."
"She's doing really well, actually. I think she warmed up to the fact after the first day of school. Everyone here is really nice. Oh, and Cel and Scott have a thing going on," I giggle.
"Really? Is he good looking? Tell me about Scott!" she orders me.
"Ok, um. He's on the lacrosse team and he's really good. He has black hair and brown eyes. He's tan and about 5'10". Oh! And his jawline is kind of uneven."
"Oh nice! He seems like a cool guy. I mean, he found a dead body in the woods! That's so cool!" I laugh at my friend.
"He is really cool," I agree.
"What about you?" she asks me. "Any Beacon Hills guys catch your eye?" My mind immediately goes to Derek.
"Um... yeah?" I cautiously answer.
"Really? Tell me!" Collette exclaims.
"Um, his name is Derek. He lives here. And I met him when I found Scott and Stiles looking for the body in the woods." I try to not let out too much information. Derek seems like a really private person and I don't want to invade his privacy by talking about our interactions.
