*Jay's POV*

"Dad was at the district yesterday." I was sitting on my brother's couch and we were drinking a beer.
"You're kidding." Will's eyes widened when he heard the news.
"No. He wanted to meet last night but I didn't show up. I don't know. He didn't call me so I guess he's just gonna disappear again." I hadn't heard from my dad in a few month and I wasn't sorry for it.
"Did he say why he wanted to meet?" My brother knew as much as I did how me and my father's relationship was.
"No. He said he changed and all that but when he grabbed my arm all the memories came up and I knew he felt it." I looked down at my arm where he had held me for a few moments.
"Did he put a hand on you?" Will looked even more shocked.
"No. Not even he's that stupid to attack a Detective in the police district. Besides, I'm stronger than him now." I was pretty sure the only reason he'd stopped hitting me was because I had gotten stronger than him.

"Jay!" My father called for me and I could tell by his voice that he was drunk but hiding didn't work because he would be even more furious if he then found me than he was already so I walked into the living room.
"Yes?" I ducked down when he threw his beer bottle after me.
The bottle smashed against the wall and fell in a thousand pieces to the floor.
"Your teacher called and told me that you got into a fight at school." My father swayed, but still managed to grab my arm and hold me so I wouldn't run off.
"You know what that means." He bend me over his knee and hit me so hard that I couldn't breathe.
After a few hits he stopped and made me look into his eyes.
"How old are you?" I didn't know what that had to do with what I did at school but of course I answered him.
"I'm twelve." I had enough air to talk.
"That's correct. At your age I tried to be good at school and not getting into fights." My father looked down at me as if he would be expecting an apology but I said something else.
"I am good at school." That was definitely the wrong because he gave me such a strong slap in the face that I could temporarily not hear anything in my ear.
"Don't you talk back to me." I'm sure he would have continued but Will was standing in the doorway and that made him stop.

"Do you rember that one time he hit me because I got into a fight at school and was about to beat the crap out of me but then saw you and magically calmed down?" I asked my brother and nodded.
"Yeah. He never wanted me to see him hitting you. But I knew anyways." Will nodded.
"Well. When I got lucky you walked in and saved me from more beatings. But when I was unlucky and neither you nor mom were at home, I got out of it with a broken nose or worth." I took another sip of beer.
"I have really no idea what his problem with you was. I mean you were totally annoying sometimes but it was also cool to have a big brother who could protect you from the bullies." Will smirked because he had been the one getting into trouble at school more than I did.
"Do you remember Mark?" I grinned and Will nodded.
"Yeah. That guy used to make fun of me for my ginger hair." Will looked up at his still-ginger hair.
"Putting dome pink dye into his shampoo after PE was fun. It stayed for two weeks, right?" We both laughed about how the guy really tried everything to get his hair back to normal color.

*Erin's POV*

When I heard a knock on the door I was a bit confused because I knew that Jay apparnetly had a key to his apartment.
When I opened the door I relaised oretty quick who was standing in front of me.
The man looked like an older version of Jay.
"You're not Jay." Pat Halstead looked at me with raised eyebrows.
"No. I'm Erin." The name didn't seem to ring a bell in his head.
"Do you know where I can find him?" Pat looked a bit annoyed.
"I don't know whe..." Jay stood behind his father.
"Did he do something to you?" Jay ignored his father completely and looked at me.
"No. He just arrived here." I looked back at him.
"Does the slut belong to you?" When his father said this, Jay turned around in one smooth movement and hit his father in the face with his fist.
"Don't you talk about her like that. Leave." Jay had all muscles tensed and stood between me and his father.
His father didn't say a word and just left.
