Forever Hopeless

I snapped out of my thoughts and turned back to Ashton.

"What?"

"Forget it?" I thought for a second more.

"Ya."

"Ok. Come here." He pulled me close to him and held me. I feel asleep in Ashton's arms and woke up in them too. I smiled when I felt his arm around my waist. I turned to him and moved the hair out of his face.

"Morning." He smiled and shifted so he could see me.

"Morning. Sleep ok?"

"Yes darling." My cheeks got red and I looked away for a moment. Suddenly I thought of Calum.

"Ash you have to leave." I started to get up and search for my brush.

"Why?"

"Of Calum comes in here and sees you in mybed he will be so pissed."

"Oh...ok." He got up then I realized he had no shirt. I stopped what I was doing and looked at him.

"Stop staring. Its rude." I blinked and shook my head trying to focus on what Iwas doing. I finally found my brush and ash found his shirt. He opened the door and was in the middle of putting  his shirt on when I heard him mumble something. I went to the door and saw Calum staring at Ashton who was coming out of my room half naked.

"Cal no it's not what it looks like." I pushed ash out of the way and walked over to him but I stopped in my tracks when I felt a sudden pain in my cheek. I reached up and touched it. It was hot and stung. Then I realized Calum hit me. I looked up at him with furrowed eyebrows and saw his expression change. I turned around and ran back to my room.

"Sam wai-" Calum said as I shut the door. I ran to the bed and fell on it. I thought to myself about how he acted as if he never cared for me at all.

***Ashton'sPOV***

I stood there in the hallway looking at Calum completely shocked. I can't believe he just hit Sam. She said he would do that but I didn't actually think that he would.

"Calum I can't believe-"
"I didn't mean to!"
"You hit her!" He looked down at the floor and mumbled something but I couldn't hear him.
"I know but...I just wanted..." He began to cry and I suddenly began to feel really bad about yelling at him...but not too much.
"Calum..." He looked up and wiped the tears from his cheeks. "Just....why?" He was quiet for a moment before answering.

"I...just wanted to keep her safe!" He covered his eyes with his hands ans cried. I walked over to him and took hold of his arm and tried to seem intimidating but he was somewhat taller than me.

"Sam told me that if you saw us...just hanging out you would hit her! Why would she even think that?!"

"I-I'm sorry! I just wanted her to not get hurt-i need to talk to her!" He tried to push past me but i stood in his way so he couldn't reach the door.

"You cant see her! For all i know you could hit her again, or worse!"

"Ashton please i need to see her." he got quiet. "Please Ashton. Let me see her." I sighed and thought about for a second.

"Fine. But if you hurt her i swear-"

"I know. I wont hurt her." I stepped out of the way and let calum by.

***Calum's pov***

I put my hand on the nob and took a deep breath, not sure what would happen next. I opened the door and found Sam laying on the bed...crying. I could hear her muffled sobs even though she tried to stay quiet.

"Sam?" It became quiet and Sam held her breath so i couldn't hear her cry. "Sam i know you might not want to talk to me but...i-I'm so sorry." My voice began to quiver and i knew i was going to cry. She sat up and looked at me. Her eyes were red and puffy, and she had tear stains down her cheeks. Her sweater sleeves were wet from her wiping the tears away. I suddenly felt a sharp painful feeling in my chest. I looked down at the floor unable to look at Sam.

"Calum i...i don't know what i did t-to make you hate me so much b-but..." She began to cry harder than i have ever seen her cry ever.

"Sam no i don't hate you!" I walked over to her and sat on her bed. I put my hand out to grab hers but she flinched. "I wasn't going to hit....did you really think i was going to hit you?" She looked at me and nodded slightly which made me understand what a horrible brother i have been to her. "Sam i would never..." I stopped because i remembered i did hit her. She looked up at me and i could see her lip quivering. "Sam. I'm so so so sorry. I know you wont believe me but...i do love you. With all my heart. Its just...i didn't want you to get...hurt. So to keep you from getting hurt i set some...i guess pretty harsh rules, and when you broke those rules...i got scared and overreacted. So im really sorry and i hope you ca-" I felt something grasp me and when i looked down Sam had her arms wrapped around me. I smiled and hugged her back.

"Calum..."

"yes?"

"Thank you." At her words my heart fluttered and the sharp pain in my chest went away. After hugging for a while there was a knock at the door.

"Come in." The door opened and Ashton stood in the doorway looking scared at first then relieved. I rubbed Sams arm which made her look up. She was almost asleep in my arms so i knew everything would be ok. I gestured her to get up and she did. She stood up and walked over to Ash. I couldn't hear what they were saying because they were whispering but Sam nodded her head twice then shook her head once. I saw Ashon reach down and grab her hand but she slipped it out of his grip and looked at the floor.

***Sams pov***

"Ashton...I don't think we-"

"Can i talk to you outside for a minute?" I nodded and followed Ash out to the hall. Once we were out there he grabbed my hand and i let it be. "So you and Calum are good right?"

"Yes i said that."

"Ok...then he wont mind."He lifted my hand and was about to place a kiss on it but i took my hand away from him and shook my head.

"I dont know ash it would feel...wrong."

"I didnt even get my first date with you and you alredy are saying no."

'"Im sorry Ash...i.... just..."

"Just give me one date. Please. Just one and then we can...figure it out from there." I sat silent for a moment before nodding. I smiled and Ashton pulled me to him for a hug. I broke the hug after remembering Caum was still in the room. I waled in and found Calum still on the bed. He smiled and stood up when he saw us.

"Hey."

"Hey..."I smiled back and walked over to him. We hugged then walked out int the hallway. We all looked up when we heard a voice coming from down the hall. It was Michael and Luke.

"Oh...Sam, Ashton....Calum." There was a certin harshness in Luke's voice when he said Calum's name.

"Hey you two...." I said playfully trying to break the tension. Michael smiled at me and walked straight toward me.

"Hey are you alright? I-" I nodded which made him be quiet.

"Ok...so we are here guys." My eyes widened and we all looked around at eachother.

"Really?"

"Ya come on." Michael led the way and we all followed him up the stairs and to the deck.
