After 5 years

I clicked the "enter" on my laptop's keyboard to send dad the files he needed on the company, today. I can't be there in the office and work today because I promised my family that I am spending my weekend with them this week para na rin makabawi dahil nitong mga nakaraang araw ay sobrang hectic ng schedule ko. I couldn't find time to be with them.

Being a CEO has never been always great. And dad knows this. After I took over the company when I graduated from college, he already prepared for that moment and I couldn't disagree with him because I also feel like handling my own company at my age at that time. Although it's him who started it, I promised dad that I'll be the one to finish what he started and continue to give rise to his legacy. Our legacy.

"Done."

I removed my glasses and stretched my arms for a bit. Up until now, I still make sure to maintain my body fit.

Unless I feel like jogging outside the house.

I started walking downstairs to check my family and instantly regretted my decision when I set my feet in the living room.

The whole room is set on fire. I mean, figuratively speaking.

Aysh. Kids with their weird toys...

"Liam Grey Trinidad!" I called the culprit because I know he's just in here.

As if on cue, a tiny figure walked towards the living room...but with a twist.

"And why is your body covered with toilet paper, little man?" I firmly asked. "And what's with the wet feet?"

He tried to remove some tissue covering his face and when he was able to do so, he smiled brightly and threw his body to me.

"Dada! I p-pway in there, in the bathroom. Yaya Gi-gi cookin' so I pway myselp!"

I caught him immediately and started scolding him, "Gosh, baby. You do know this is toilet paper, right? Baby, that's gross. Come on, dada will clean you."

I stand up, with him in my right arm, and started walking into the staircase going to his room.

But,

"And where do you two think you're going?"

Uh-oh.

---

It's already midnight and after the scolding and forgiving earlier in the living room ay nilinisan na ni yaya Giselle si Liam.

Hours of playing and watching something on the television, my son eventually knocked himself out and fell asleep in my arms in tiredness. Normally, hindi namin ito hinahayaang mapuyat kahit pa may katigasan ang ulo nito minsan dahil ayaw pa matulog at gusto pang maglaro. But this time, we just let him enjoy our family bonding. After all, sabi ko nga, naging busy ako these past few weeks at ito pa lang ang weekends ko na makakasama ko sila kaya nilubos-lubos na rin namin.
