"Kacchan? What are you doing here?" Izuku asked, right after he recognized the person standing in the doorway. He didn't notice that he'd used the old nickname for the blonde. Afterall, old habits are had to shake, aren't they? For some reason, Katsuki didn't react to that part either. It was hard to tell whether he'd even noticed or not.
"Izuku? Why aren't you sleeping?" Katsuki asked, right after he recognized the person standing by the railing. He had no idea why Izuku would be up there at this time of night. Katsuki wouldn't want to admit it, but deep down, he was a little worried. He didn't want to see Izuku suffer ever again. He'd do anything in his power to ensure the other's happiness.
They'd both spoken at the same time.
"I could ask you the same," they both said a few seconds later, simultaneously. They both chuckled at that. Katsuki walked up to the railing, next to his classmate. He was glad that Izuku didn't seem as hateful towards him as he had that morning, and the previous days of that week.
"If you answer my question, I'll answer yours. I guess," Katsuki said, in a surprisingly monotone voice.
"Well, I couldn't sleep. And I like it up here. Is that reason enough for you, Bakugou?" Izuku caught himself again, he did his best to give his voice a slightly resentful, annoyed undertone. He didn't need Katsuki to think everything- or anything- was fine between them.
The blonde nodded. "I'm here for similar reasons, and also because I had this feeling that I just couldn't shake off. I felt like I had to come up here, like that was super important for some reason." Katsuki was doing his best to make his voice sound nice, softer than usual. He wouldn't dare to be mean to Izuku, no matter what.
After a few seconds of silence between them, Katsuki walked to stand next to Izuku. He placed his hands on the railing, just like Izuku had earlier. He looked up at the stars, and seemed to be thinking about something. It looked like it was something pretty serious.
Izuku didn't know if he cared enough to ask what it was. He was somewhat distracted anyway. Katsuki looked interesting under the dim light of the moon.
He stared at the blonde for a few more moments, before he sighed, and seemingly turned to leave. But before Izuku could make his way over to the door leading to the stairs, Katsuki'd reached out, and grabbed his hand.
"Wait!" He said, sounding like whatever the reason for that tiny outburst- if one could even call it that- was, was pretty urgent. Katsuki let go of his friend's- he knew they weren't really friends again- yet?- hand, after it looked like Izuku was willing to stay there a little longer. "I want to talk to you."
Izuku didn't say anything back at first, he'd simply rolled his eyes. After another few seconds of silence, he stepped closer to the railing again, and sighed. "Start talking already, if it's so important." His words sounded less hateful again. It almost seemed like Izuku couldn't quite make up his mind whether he wanted to be mean at the moment, or not. Katsuki tried hard not to giggle at that.
Katsuki took a deep breath. "I still have some questions for you."
Izuku immediately seemed to get a bit more annoyed. "This again?" he asked, irritation obvious in his voice, "I already told you that I won't answer your questions."
"That's alright. I won't force you to answer. I'd still like to ask though," Katsuki said, his voice barely above a whisper.
Izuku sighed loudly. "Then ask away. Just don't expect me to reply to all of them." Katsuki smiled, he looked surprisingly grateful that Izuku'd even hear him out.
That sight should've annoyed the greenette, but for some reason, it didn't.
Katsuki took a deep breath before he started speaking. "You said you didn't want to become a hero anymore, is that right?" Izuku nodded. "So, what are you doing here?"
A smile grew on Izuku's lips, a twisted smirk, not a sweet or kind smile, like the ones he'd always show their other classmates.
