Todoroki Shouto had never been a particularly nosy person. In fact, he never really cared about his classmates enough to snoop around.
Shouto never thought that that would change anytime soon. And he was right, it didn't change.
Sure, he cared about his friends, but again- not enough to be nosy.
Here's the thing though, just because he didn't go out of his way to uncover any secrets doesn't mean he never noticed anything.
Usually, the things he overheard weren't of great importance or anything like that, and he usually didn't pay enough attention to hear any sensitive details anyway. The most sensitive information he'd ever accidentally found out about had been Denki cheating on a math exam.
Or at least, that was until today.
On this very special day, Shouto hadn't been able to fall asleep aftere the class' movie night. He wasn't sure why exactly - maybe because of all the sugary snacks? But that didn't really matter.
The relevant part was what he noticed while he stayed awake.
Shouto had already noticed that Katsuki acted weirdly around the new student. He had never really paid attention to that though, because why would he?
Sure, he considered Katsuki his friend, but how Katsuki interacted with that other guy wasn't really any of his business.
Katsuki and the new student. They'd been on the rooftop for a suspicious amount of time.
Shouto couldn't hear their conversation, but he didn't need to.
He might've hid behind a corner when he saw the new student walking by. Obviously, Shouto didn't, and still doesn't, know much about the green haired guy, but the way he acted still seemed suspicious. He looked almost ecstatic, with that vaguely cruel-looking smile on his face.
Shouto held his breath. He did not want to be noticed.
His classmate walked past him, seemingly without having noticed him.
Shouto was relieved. But that wasn't the only thing he was. He was also suspicious. Very suspicious. He was about to walk back to his room to think about this situation, when the rooftop doors opened once more.
Katsuki walked past him, a little faster than their classmate had just moments prior. Katsuki hadn't noticed Shouto either. Katsuki looked completely lost in thought, confused but also happy in a weird way.
Shouto was very confused.
And to his own surprise, very curious.

Midoriya Izuku was a quirkless middle school student who committed suicide roughly two years ago. He had no friends at all, but when people did interact with him, he always genuinely tried to be as nice as he could. He wished he had a quirk.
Midoriya Itsuki is a new student attending UA High's Class 1-A in the Hero department. He didn't have many friends yet, but he was nice to everyone around him, on a surface level that is. Officially, he has one quirk, Telekinesis. But actually, he had a few more than that. He had a healing quirk, a quirk that allowed him to manipulate technology and a quirk similar to that from Eraserhead that allowed him to temporarily disable other people's quirks, when making physical contact with them.
There is really no reason why Izuku and Itsuki have the same last name. That is entirely a coincidence, and there is absolutely no connection between those two, obviously.
Izuku was dead, more or less. Officially, he was a corpse rotting 6 feet under. Realistically, though- well, "Itsuki" was very much not dead.
And officially, Midoriya Itsuki did not exist until very recently.
It was beyond him why UA was so easy to fool, but he wasn't complaining. It made his job much easier.
Although, what he was supposed to do at UA was different than the times when he'd been a student at other hero schools (obviously with a different name every time, he and his friends weren't stupid, afterall). At UA, he was for two reasons.
One, the same as all the other schools; gather intell, hack into their systems, help destroy them from the inside out, weaken them.
And two, a personal one; Bakugou Katsuki.
Izuku had never thought himself to be the type of person who would hold a grudge this long, but he did. His plan had originally been to just do his normal job, and taunt Katsuki and toy with the blonde's feelings for a while, before disappearing again - once and for all, then.
But this plan did not go as planned.
He had expected to find Katsuki as the same asshole he used to know in Aldera; someone who would try to push him down just for the sake of it, someone who enjoyed seeing him hurt.
He had most definitely not expected to find Katsuki apologetic and sorry and pathetically nice. He had not expected Katsuki to have changed at all, and especially not as drastically as he actually did.
Izuku had still wanted revenge, but for some reason it wasn't as fun now as he'd previously expected it to be. It made him feel too much like Katsuki was back in middle school. But regardless of that, he was a villain now - or at least he would be very soon - so that shouldn't stop him, right?
His friends, some members of the League of Villains, were cheering him on for all this. He'd told them in the past about all the things he had to endure from Katsuki, they were excited for him to get his revenge. In fact, some of them - namely, Toga Himiko - had even though his original plans were too nice, and that he should just torture him, maybe even murder him. Izuku found that far too extreme, and when he told her that, she just laughed, saying that he should still keep her ideas in mind as a backupan at least. He had rolled his eyes and laughed with her.
He felt blessed to have friends like them, who always had his back.
Anyways, back to the issue at hand.
Izuku didn't know what to do now that he knew how Katsuki actually felt about him now.
The only thing he did know was that he had to at least succeed in his original mission. All for One had promised him, once he'd helped them infiltrate UA, he'd finally after all this time become an official member of the League. Himiko would always say that he was already a full member in her heart, but hearing that from All for One had just carried more weight for Izuku. He knew he couldn't back down from this, not after he'd worked so hard at all the other schools.
Izuku - well, "Itsuki" - was sitting at his desk in the classroom. He was not listening to Ectoplams math lesson whatsoever. He was lost deepin thought, and hadn't even noticed the bell ringing until someone tapped on his shoulder.
He looked up, surprised to see everyone else already gone, other than him and the person who'd just gotten his attention.
"Hey, can we talk? There's something I'd like to ask you about," the guy in front of him said.
"Oh, sure." Izuku was wondering what Endeavour's son of all people could possibly want from him. "What's up?" he asked, trying hard to sound nice.
Shouto was very good at researching, and even if he sometimes jumped to the wrong conclusions, he could become very dangerous for Izuku. Izuku didn't necessarily know that, though.
