Katsuki had finally started going to school every day again. He couldn't exactly pinpoint when or why exactly he'd made that decision, but he didn't regret it.
He wouldn't say that he liked it, but he certainly wouldn't complain about getting to spend so much time so cloe to Izuku- Sure, Izuku seemed to absolutely hate him, but Katsuki understood that, and it didn't change anything about how he felt. He was still glad to know that his old friend never actually died.
But then again, it did hurt. It hurt him how hateful Izuku's eyes seemed to be whenever he laid them upon Katsuki. He almost seemed disgusted everytime he had to talk to him.
But Katsuki decided to try to ignore those little things. Well- maybe they weren't so little, but again, Katsuki decided he'd try to ignore them. If he didn't notice Izuku's disdain, it couldn't hurt him, right? Hopefully.
Then again, it would really be a lie to say Katsuki was doing worse than before. He couldn't even put into words how happy he was that Izuku's still alive, and breathing, and well- He didn't actually know about the 'well' part, but that's not the point. He was certain he'd find out eventually anyway.
Katsuki was sitting in the classroom. He'd been so lost in thought, he wasn't even sure what subject they had at the moment. But he didn't really care either, because why would he? Currently, he's got other priorities.
He wanted to find out where Izuku'd been all this time, and just generally what the heck happened. He also needed to find some kind of way to get Izuku to forgive him, or at least to not actively continue hating him. And on top of that, he wanted to know why Izuku was going to U.A. if he apparently didn't even care for becoming a hero anymore-
"Wait a second," Katsuki muttered under his breath, "how'd he even get in?"
The blonde had no idea how he hadn't noticed that earlier- Izuku was quirkless. That was literally the original reason why their friendship went downhill- He should've remembered.
He frowned.
Now he was immensely confused. It didn't make any sense. Usually U.A. didn't just accept random new students in the middle of a school year, unless they have some special connections, or recommendation, or whatever. So why would they accept a random quirkless guy?
It seemed like an impossible scenario. It didn't add up.
Recently, he'd developed this stupid habit of doing things without thoroughly thinking them through. Technically, that wasn't a completely new habit, but it'd gotten a lot worse.
So, without thinking, he turned around to face Izuku, who was sitting in the seat right behind him.
"Do you have a quirk?"
Izuku blinked a few times. He hadn't expected Katsuki to talk to him for whatever reason, at all. And he especially didn't expect to hear a question like that. But obviously, a simple question like that couldn't throw him off for more than a few second.
He let out an awkward laugh. "What kind of question is that? Of course, I have a quirk. Otherwise I wouldn't be here, Bakugou." He smiled. His voice sounded as warm, and nice as always. His eyes were cold. If looks could kill- Ohh, if looks could kill, Katsuki Bakugou would be long gone.
Katsuki didn't really know how he should feel about Izuku's reply. It made sense. What else was he expecting the greenette to say anyway? It was a stupid question, asked in a stupid moment, by a stupid asshole. Nonetheless, Katsuki frowned.
If it's true that Izuku had a quirk now, where'd he get it? And more importantly, how did he get it? What kind of quirk was it? Something useful in hand-to-hand combat? Or maybe it'd be more useful for wide range attacks? Or maybe something completely different. maybe something to gather information?
Katsuki had so many questions, and all of a sudden, he regretted skipping school at all. Had he been there every day, he would surely have been able to catch a glimpse of Izuku's quirk.
He sighed. It's pretty much irrelevant what kind of quirk he has, it's far more important to figure out why he has a quirk now, and where he got it from.
Katsuki knew that Izuku was diagnosted quirkless as a child, so the excuse that it just manifested unusually late could be ruled out. Someone had to have given him a quirk. But the only person Katsuki knew of who could give someone else a quirk was definitely not an option. There's no way Izuku could've possibly gotten his quirk from All For One, right? That's impossible, right?
Sure, Izuku had changed a lot, was acting pretty suspicously, apparently faked his suicide two years ago, and now had magically gained a quirk, but Izuku couldn't have gotten it from All For One, right? Izuku, who loved heroes more then himself, could never get a quirk from a villain, right? Right? Izuku would never associate with villains, right?
It all just didn't make any sense to Katsuki. He couldn't figure out how else his new classmate could've gotten a quirk, but he also refused to believe that his sweet, kind Izuku could have any bit of villainy inside of him.
And then, he remembered how Izuku had changed, how different he was now. He really wasn't that same weak, nice, quirkless kid he used to be.
Katsuki sighed again. He didn't even want to think about this anymore. He rubbed his eyes, and tried to somewhat direct his attention towards the teacher. He really didn't care what Present Mic was talking about, it was hard not to immediately get distracted again.
