They'd arrived on the rooftop for the second time that day.
"So," Katsuki immediately began, "your name?"
His classmate smiled at him. "Like I said earlier, you already know my name, Kacchan."
Katsuki paused, taken aback. For a moment it felt like all time had stopped, like the universe had frozen.
He could barely comprehend what he'd just heard. He could barely believe it. He'd been so certain that he'd never ever get to hear that nickname again in his life.
"What did you just call me?" He asked, uncertain.
At first, he got no response other than a cold giggle.
"What the hell did you just call me?!" He asked again, this time louder, with more force in his voice. He sounded angry, he didn't know if he actually was.
"I called you Kacchan, like I used to when we were younger," his green haired classmate stopped for a moment. "I don't know why you're so surprised."
He smiled far too sinisterly for a face as cute as Izuku's. His dark grin sent icy shivers down Katsuki's spine.
"So... It's really you?" He asked, uncertain what answer he expected. Unsure what answer he wanted to hear. Katsuki didn't notice that he began shaking slightly.
The other ignored that Katsuki had said anything at all.
"It's been so long since we last properly talked to each other," he paused for a moment, "I mean, I wouldn't say I missed you— Actually, I was glad to be away from you," he laughed, "You're different now, though. So much less irritating." He spoke slowly, and clearly, before he giggled again.
Katsuki still couldn't believe it. This guy... The new guy in their class, really was none other than...
"Deku," he laughed again, "that's what you used to call me, right? So annoying. And so— pathetic." He rolled his eyes as he spoke.
Katsuki was still staring at him. He just couldn't believe it. He wanted to cry, and for the first time in far too long, not really because of sadness. "So... It really is you?" His voice sounded so hopeful, it really irritated the other. He didn't really need an answer anymore, but he asked anyway. he wanted to hear the confirmation.
"Would you be disappointed if I say yes?"
Izuku couldn't believe that Katsuki could've possibly missed him. To him, that was still completely out of the question.
Katsuki slowly shook his head. He would only be disappointed if the guy in front of him ended up being someone else. Oh, he couldn't even put it into words how much that would disappoint him.
Izuku's eyes widened slightly in surprise. "I think you misunderstood my questi—"
Katsuki didn't let him finish that sentence. "No," he said, "I understood." Before Izuku managed to say anything else, Katsuki'd suddenly pulled him into an embrace, with no warning.
"What the fuck?" Izuku was getting really irritated. What happened? He just didn't understand why Katsuki was acting the way he did. None of it made sense. Being so nice to him, skipping school all the time, it just didn't make any sense. It really confused him. And that annoyed him. It just wasn't like the Bakugou Katsuki he'd known... He immediately internally slapped himself for that thought. He didn't know Katsuki Bakugou anymore. It's been a long time since he last understood what was going through the blonde's mind. And even if he'd still understood the other two years ago, that didn't matter anymore. Two years is a long time. So much can happen in two years- he of all people should know that,- he didn't know Katsuki Bakugou anymore. The person he used to call 'Kacchan' didn't exist anymore. The person in front of him was a stanger.
