                              ——
Katsuki had drifted off into a dreamless sleep the night before. He hadn't set an alarm, nor had he decided whether he'd even go to class the next morning.
He'd woken up when he heard a sudden knock on his door. He wondered who the hell could think it'd be a good idea to bother him that early during the day. He yelled at whoever was so courageous to tell him what they want.
"Bakubro, it's me. I want you to go to school again." Eijirou said outside Katsuki's room.
After a short back and forth, Katsuki had agreed to attend class, at least for that one day. He really didn't want to, but he knew that he had to go back eventually if he didn't want to be suspended anyway.
                              ~
When Eijirou had entered their classroom that day, with Katsuki following behind him, everyone was surprised. They obviously hadn't expected the blonde to come back already.
Everyone seemed to have something to say to him, but he wasn't listening to them. He silently walked past them to get to his seat. He'd drowned out almost everything they'd said to him. He then also noticed that the previously empty seat behind his own, was where the new student apparently sat.
He watched him closely as he sat down.
It felt weird. It felt weird to be back in class, like nothing ever happened. And it felt weird that the new student was sitting so close behind him. He really wanted a distraction, he didn't want to care about Izuku's look-alike. But he did, and that was the problem. He couldn't get his mind off him, no matter how much that was what he wanted to do.
The evening before, when he'd compared their handwritings, that was momentarily all it took to convince him that that was Izuku. But now he'd thought about the situation more in depth. That couldn't be Izuku. It would literally be impossible. Izuku was dead. He'd been dead for two whole years now. Katsuki had attended the funeral, and visited his grave countless times. He knew that there was no way for Izuku to still be alive. Sure, he never actually saw the corpse, but that didn't mean anything, right? Katsuki was completely certain that this guy was just a look-alike, just a doppelgänger. Anything else would be ridiculous.
The way their smiles looked the same? Their almost perfectly identical handwriting? Their voices, that sound exactly alike? Katsuki was sure all of that had to be nothing, but a very big, unlikely coincidence. What else could those things be, anyway?
He turned around to look at that guy again. He was currently talking to Tenya, and Ochako. They looked like they'd been friends for years.
Katsuki had always thought Izuku would get along well with those two, yet the sight in front of him still looked so surreal. Even though he knew that couldn't be Izuku, even though he knew that wasn't Izuku. He couldn't help himself, but compare everything that new student did, to Izuku. He couldn't help, but wish for him to be Izuku. He couldn't help, but miss him.
Katsuki'd been staring at his classmate for a few minutes now. He only really noticed it, when the Izuku look-alike had made eye contact, and grinned at him. At that, the blonde had turned around immediately.
                              ~
During class, Katsuki hadn't really paid a lot of attention to what their teachers had been saying. Before he knew it the school day was already over.
As he was about to get up to leave class, Mr Aizawa asked him to stay behind, because he wanted to talk to him. Katsuki rolled his eyes as he nodded. He wasn't surprised by that, in fact he'd expected it, but damn, it still annoyed him.
After all his classmates had left, he walked up to Aizawa's desk.
