28. Sadness and Love

The real suffering of war is not the wound that is inflicted on us, but watching how it is hurt by those we care about.

View of Aragorn:
I had a dream there was Legolas and he was saying something in Elvish.  I dreamed for a while before I woke up.  Brega (my horse) woke me up.  Then I sat on it with great effort.  We drove all day.  I had a lot of time to think.  I came to the conclusion that when I reached Helm's Groove, I would tell Legolas my feelings.  I hope nothing happened to him.  It's a bad feeling to know I can't protect my beloved elf.

Legolas View:
I was only in my room all day, I didn't want to talk to anyone.  I was just thinking and crying.  Gimli was right why I didn't listen to him.  Now I'll blame myself for the dead.  I should have told him a long time ago.  Before the community of the ring.
"Legolas?" Gimli addressed me. I don't even know he came into my room. I just looked at him with my teary eyes.
"I know it hurts.  I experienced it too.  I know there have been enough of those deaths.  First Gandalf then Boromir and now Aragorn.  But you can't stop living.  It's not easy for you.  You preferred him more than all of me put together.  But do you think he would like to see you like this?  That you're not doing anything, are you just worried?  I don't think so, so come have lunch. "Gimli told me. I hugged him again.
"You're right, Gimli.  Aragorn wouldn't want me to destroy himself like that.  And you were also right that I would blame myself until I died that I hadn't told him anything. "I told Gimli, still with tears in my eyes.
"Then come eat.  You'll be better, "Gimli told me with a smile. I also tried to smile.

When we were at lunch, almost no one spoke.  We all mourned for the fallen, some still for Theodred.  After I finished, I went back to the room.

Gimli's view:
When I finished eating, I heard a noise in the square.  Aragorn.  I followed him right away.
"Gimli, where is Legolas?" Aragorn asked me devastated.
"He's in him room." I was glad he wanted to go after Legolas.
Then I led him to Legolas's room and went to mine to have privacy.

Legolas View:
After about 1 hour of just lying on the bed, someone knocked.  I hesitated a bit but then I said:
"Next" When the door opened, I petrified.
"Aragorn?" I asked because I couldn't believe it.
"Lassie." When Aragorn said my name, it was clear to me that it was him.  I went to hug him right away.
"I have to tell you something," Aragorn said seriously, and I showed him on the bed if he didn't want to sit down. Aragorn just nodded.
"Me too." I told Aragorn as we sat next to each other on the bed.
"Can I be the first?" Aragorn asked me, I just nodded.

View of Aragorn:
I was nervous but I also knew I had to tell him. Because if something like that happened again, God forbid, Legolas, I'd even blame myself for life. So I started:
"I wanted to tell you for a long time ... I realized it when we were in the woods. I tried to tell you when we went on horseback for the ride ... but they interrupted us. Then I told you ... I'd tell you somewhere in private. Actually, I just want to tell you that ... that I love you. "

Legolas View:
Immediately after Aragorn told me, he looked at the ground and his faces turned red color.  I was shocked that I completely ran out of words.
"I know it was stupid to tell you.
I didn't ... Then I'd better go. "Aragorn told me sadly, almost crying. But when he started to rise, it was as if I woke up.
"Wait, Aragorn!" I told him before he could touch the handle. In the meantime, I walked over to him. I stroked his cheek and said,
"I love you too," I said happily. When I told him, he raised his head so I could look into those steel-gray eyes. They were full of tears, but at the same time of joy, happiness, and a feeling I couldn't name before. It was pure and boundless love.

View of Aragorn:
When he told me, I felt alive again.  I looked into his eyes.  The only thing I saw in them was joy and undying love.

It was a very sad chapter last time, so now I may have made it up to you. I would also like to say that I have never dated anyone before, so I don't understand it at all.
