Forced to move, Ember Evergreen has to say goodbye to her best friend. She never thought she would see him again and it broke her heart.
10 years later, winning a raffle in New York she finds herself in a peculiar situation. She had won concert tic...
Okay it probably wasn't the best idea to mess with Harry like that, but I couldn't help it. It was so hard not to laugh as the waitress gave him strange looks while ordering our drinks as he had to keep adjusting his seating position.
As she left to get our drinks I picked up the menus, my eyes almost popping out of my head as I read the first item.
Appetizers Caesar Salad (small) 47
"Holy shit" I mumbled under my breath, placing the menu back down on the table and looking around. Everyone else here had big ass meals that probably cost my monthly rent.
"What's wrong Ember?" I looked at Harry who was also skimming through the menu, not seeming to be phased one bit. I moved closer to him, if that was possible, and leant down slightly and whispered to him. "Are you crazy? How much is this fucking restaurant? 50 bucks for a small salad. Small!" I leaned back with furrowed brows as he bit back a laugh.
"What? What's so funny? I'm gonna have to sell both of my kidneys to eat here!"
Harry shook his head, taking both of my hands and kissing my knuckles.
Flattery will get him no where.
"Ember" He said, looking back up and placing my hands down. "Don't worry, I'll pay for it"
I let out a small breath of air, finding myself in quit a predicament. On one hand, I let him pay for the meal but feel bad for the tremendous amount of money he will have to spend. Or two, split the bill and end up living on the street for a month or two.
Harry pulled me out of my thoughts, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear and kissing my forehead softly. "Relax, I'll let you make it up to me by paying for breakfast tomorrow. We'll go to a cafe or something"
I relaxed a bit, feeling better. I hated people spending money on me, always made me feel like I owed them after. "Okay"
"Okay"
I took another glance at the menu, leaning into Harry's chest as I did, feeling his arm behind me on the booth. I skimmed through it, trying to find the cheapest item on there.
Chicken Soup 73
Jesus Christ. That's the cheapest thing on there? It better be one hell of a chicken soup. The waitress came back to take out orders, Harry ordering a medium rare steak. "And for you miss?"
I felt my cheeks turn red, "Oh, I'll just get the chicken soup" I felt Harry turn to me for a second as the waitress wrote it down, he held up his hand "Uh- wait a minute" He looked down at the menu and looked back up "She'll have the lasagna" The waitress looked at me then at Harry, eventually writing down the order and leaving to ring it up.
I looked at Harry with crazy eyes, "Are you kidding? That's like" I looked at the menu, my stomach churning as I saw the price. "130 dollars! It'll probably be a super tiny piece because rich people eat in super weird portions!" I whisper yell, the amusement only growing on Harry's face.
He caught my hands and placed them on my lap, "Baby, relax. I want to do this for you" The price argument left my mind, my head shooting up.
"What did you just call me?"
His eyes grew wide for a second, "What?" the corners of his lips turned up "You called me baby"
I'm getting middle school deja vu.
"I guess I did" He smiled brightly, the energy between us feeling like little butterflies prancing around. I hummed a small reply, looking down the hide the blush on my cheeks.
15 minutes of random conversation passed, our food arriving, my mouth watering right away.
As I took the first bite of my lasagna I almost came. Okay that's probably way too much information but I swear it was so good.
After we finished our meals we shared a key lime pie, two forks.

I wiped my mouth with a small napkin, smiling in satisfaction. "This was... amazing Harry. Thank you for bringing me here." I said, leaning my head on his shoulder as we waited on the check. "No problem, I.. uh I actually have a reason I brought you here." I picked my head up, looking up at him.
"Yeah? What's that?"
He seemed nervous, but not uncomfortable, the curiosity in me peaking. "Do you remember that little flea market we went to?"
I felt my heart pick up at the memory, "Yeah of course, why?" He shifted a bit again in his seat more to turn to me, twiddling with his rings that decorated his fingers. "And the ring you looked at?"
I chewed on the inside of my cheek, trying to remember. "Ah, yes! The silver rose ring, why?"
"I saw how upset you were when you couldn't get it"
"I guess"
"Well um- here you go" I watched as he reached into the back of his pockets, my mouth dropping slightly as he pulled out a small box. "Your not proposing are you?" I joked, and he laughed loudly and shook his head. "No no, but I did want you to have this."
I hesitated before grabbing the small velvet box, opening it and feeling my heart stop for a second. There it was. The silver rose ring I had fallen in love with, I regretted not buying it.

I picked it up out of the box, looking at it as if it was going to vanish from my fingers any second. I looked back up at Harry, yelling at myself not to let me get emotional. "You got it for me?"
He smiled sheepishly, "Yeah, planned on giving it to you a lot sooner but thought this would be nicer" I shook my head in disbelief, slipping the ring on my right ring finger. It fit perfectly.
I cursed at myself when I felt a single tear fall onto my cheek, I wiped it away quickly before Harry could notice.
"I love this Harry. Thank you"
I moved in closer, softly pressing my lips to his, the feeling so much more different than before. I always felt electricity when I kissed him, it running through my blood and giving me a rush of adrenaline.
But this time is different, it made me all my limbs and fingers tingly, it made my head pound and my heart jump.
I pulled back and stared at him for a second, "I-"
