I rushed to the small boutique and saw the familiar car parked in front, I parked next to it and rushed inside, checking my watch and seeing I had a minute to spare.
I opened the door and a small ding filled the room, my eyes scanning the area as I saw a short redhead with freckles, piercings and tattoos galore checking out some wedding dresses.
"Rowan!" Their head shot up and a big smile came across their face, I ran up to them and wrapped my
hands around them. "Hi Ember! Was getting worried you were gonna bail" They joked, and I pulled back.Rowan was the manager replacement for Owen, and instead of a misogynistic dick of a manager, Rowan was a kind and understanding person. They were not only someone I work with but ended up being one of my super close friends.
"Is Mia here still?" I ask, seeing Rowan nod as they brought me to the back. "She has the dress you wanted to try" My eyes shot up and I couldn't help the spark of excitement in my veins.
"Really? In my size?" They nodded and smiled as well, pushing the curtain aside and sat down on one of the waiting chairs as Mia came out.
Mia was the owner of the boutique, a super sweet, (And short) Italian lady who offered to let me borrow a dress of my choice for the wedding.
Perks of having a mother with connections.
I hugged her hello and waited impatiently as she got the dress I had asked for, it still blew my mind she agreed to let me wear it for basically free. Of course she's coming to the wedding but it still surprises me.
The air left my lungs as she got it from the closet she came out of earlier, Rowan gasping behind me as well.
"Ready to try it on?" She asked, her slight Italian accent popping out.
I nodded eagerly and went into one of the changing booths, closing the door behind me and pulling my t shirt and jeans off, disregarding them on the floor and taking the long dress of the hanger.
The top was a corset looking type lace that had a part in the middle, poofy sleeves and a long skirt.
It was super simple but still elegant, I stepped into it, the fabric feeling like heaven against my skin. I put my fingers into the sleeves and placed them wear I wanted them, calling for Maria to lace me up in the back.
She knocked and then opened the door, her lips lightly parting as she saw me, she tilted her head and smiled. Walking behind me and tying up the string in the back of the dress, going to walk back out but then turned around again.
"You look beautiful, Ember."
I took a breath and thanked her with a smile, feeling desperate to see myself.
"Come on! I wanna see the dress!" Rowan yelled and I couldn't help but shake my head with a laugh. I was a bit nervous as I opened the door, seeing Rowan's reaction and Maria's all over again as I stepped out.
Rowans jaw dropped as they smiled and laughed, jumping up to rush towards me with open arms but Maria acted quickly and pulled them back. They gasped and turned around "What the he-"
Maria put up a disapproving finger, raising a brow "No one except the bride touched the dress."
Rowan smiled with a playful eye roll, "I was just going to hug her" But Maria shook her head turning back to me and Rowan huffed and sat down again.
"I love it" She said from their seat.
I chuckled and thanked her, stepping on a small elevated box and turned around, opening my eyes to the floor to ceiling mirror, my breath catching my throat.
It was perfect.
Oh my god it was perfect.
It was what five year old me could have only dreamed of, I flatted the fabric a bit as I felt my eyes sting. I turned back around and nodded at Maria who exclaimed happily and threw her hands in the air.
Rowan sent me two thumbs up and I immediately knew they approved. I turned back around and looked at myself again.
I'm so exited to get married.
