"The man on top of the mountain didn't fall there."

Third Omniscient Point Of View.

______

Thandeka walked into the room as elegant as she could in the high heels Betty decided on. She wasn't really used to walking in high heels but she knew how to most of the time. She caught the eyes of Zweli as she approached the dining table. Her parents were all smiles when they saw how well-put-together she was.

"Evening everyone, apologies for being late." Thandeka broke the silence. Queen Gugulethu smiled after laughing lightly.

"It's not that big of a deal, sweetheart. We all know that it's not easy for a lady to look as beautiful as you are right now. Zweli, isn't she beautiful?"

Zweli nodded with a fake smile that no one in the room noticed. "She is something." He stood up and pulled a chair for her to sit. It was next to his. She sat down, thanking him, and looked around.

Conversation started..

"So how old are you, sweetheart?" Gugulethu asked Thandeka as they ate the cow meat that Mary had prepared with the help of the other cooks.

Thandeka chewed and swallowed before speaking. "I'm twenty-four, ma."

"Mhm." Gugulethu nodded. "My boy here is 25, turning 26 in the upcoming months. You don't mind the two years right?" Zweli glared at his mother before looking at Thandeka.

Thandeka blushed under the scrutiny. "Not at all, ma. What matters is how he treats me."

Gugulethu chuckled. "That's a good response. You raised a gem here, Thandiwe." She patted Queen Thandiwe's shoulder before returning her attention back to Thandeka. "Now, this doesn't mean you should go chasing youngsters and men old enough to be your great grandfather just because they treat you well."

Zweli rolled eyes and checked the time. He had to be leaving soon as he wasn't going to get to the party in time if he didn't leave now. "Uhm ma, I think it's better if Thandeka and I just get to know each ourselves."

"Ah.. that's a lovely idea, Zweli." Gugulethu agreed with a nod.

"Great!" Zweli stood up and pulled Thandeka with him. "Let's go, sweetheart." He smiled widely as he dragged her upstairs. "Where's your room?" Thandeka, still confused, lead him to her room.

"What do you want to talk about?" She asked, shyly.

"Actually, I need you to get changed. We're leaving in 15 minutes. Wear something simple, but sexy. Less glamour too. I'll come fetch you." He pat her shoulder and left the room. Thandeka walked to her closet and checked for something to wear.

Sexy?

She picked a leather skirt and turtleneck with ankle boots.

He checked her out before biting his lip, unsure. "Mhm, I guess it'll do. You opted for simplicity." He hooked his arm around her and they left to his mother's car. The driver started the journey to the hang-out and all Thandeka could do was stare out the window..

Qophelo wiped his sweat as he watched Akhumzi fall on the floor, unconscious. It had been a brutal fight that he couldn't refuse because for some reason, this had to be done. The crowd around him cheered him on, happy that he'd beat an innocent man to a pulp.. and the previous ones as well.
