It was dawn, now. The humming bees darted through the air, as clouds latched to the unending sky. Today was the day Wood and Fawn had finally planned to go to the ocean together, alone.

Wood was starting to feel nervous, being alone with that girl all day long. But on the contrary, he now had much more time to talk and get to know her. It was safe to say, when he had met her, he had never imagined he'd get as close to her as he did, let alone fall in love with her. But, she made him happier than he had ever imagined she would, and that was what mattered.

Fawn was still fast asleep by his side. She had fallen asleep on his chest, yet seemed to roll over on her side overnight. Wood thought back to when they had first met, and how uncomfortable she was with physical touch. Now, she cuddled up next to him for almost every single night, her head pressing against his heartbeat as it accelerated. He was so proud of her, and especially after what she had done for the pack the other day. Fawn was just telling him that she wanted to be more helpful in the pack, as she felt she had been useless, and she almost immediately came up with an idea that would impact the rest of the pack's history, saving many future pups.

She was sleeping so peacefully, he almost didn't want to wake her up. But, if they wanted to get to the ocean by noon, it was about time to leave.

"Fawn," Wood whispered gently into her ear. "You awake?"

Fawn let out a tiny, high-pitched noise as she stretched out her front legs. "I'm awake..." She murmured.

"Still wanna go to the ocean?" He asked.

"Mmm...yeah, I-I can't wait..." She yawned.

"Hehe. Alright, ready to go?"

"Yeah, g-gimme a few minutes...j-just woke up..."

"Mhmm." Wood chuckled. "I'll give you a few...but we have to leave soon, alright?"

"O-Okay."

Wood smiled at her as she rolled over onto her other side, clutching Wood's front leg with her paw. She had cuddled up against him so many times, yet it still made his heart race every time she did it.

"Alright, alright...c'mon." Wood pulled his paw away from her. "Let's get going, kiddo..."

"Okay, I-I'm ready!" She squeaked. "L-Let's go!"

"Heh heh. C'mon." Wood gently grabbed her by scruff and pulled her up.

Wood began trotting out of his den, Fawn following swiftly behind. Wood squinted as the sun hit his face. He had forgotten how early the sun would rise in the summertime.

"D-Did you already tell Roscoe about this?" Fawn asked.

"Mhmm, and I trust him. I'm truthfully a bit nervous about leaving the pack with a new beta for a day, but he can handle it."

"H-He just seems really nervous about all this..." Fawn flattened her ears. "I feel bad for him..."

"Of course he's nervous. I was about his age when I was appointed the beta, and I felt I was unfit for the job. But, my mother was the chieftain at the time, so I felt I would disappoint her if I refused. Honestly, I may have been unfit at the time. I was much different back then than I am today." Wood sighed. "But, she saw qualities in me that showed that I could one day become a chieftain like her. I see the same traits in Roscoe."
