The very next day, as it was now noticeable that Nyla and Kaia were once again no where to be found, a pack meeting had been called immediately.
"I can't fuckin' believe it." Roscoe scoffed. "The Pack of the Fire took them again!?"
"We still don't know it was them." Bright Moon reminded him.
Wood nodded. "Did anyone scent any trace of The Pack of the Fire yesterday? Anything at all...?"
No one said anything.
"...Then what the hell happened...?" Jupiter flattened his ears.
"T-They're pups...th-they could've snuck out and gotten r-really lost..." Fawn suggested.
"Calvin, aren't you their father?" Perlina growled. "What were you doing?"
"...Perlina. I asked you to watch them while I was hunting." Calvin snarled.
"What were you doing?" Sakura asked.
"I was guarding...Calvin never asked me to watch them!"
"I DID! I FUCKING DID, YOU MORON!"
"I'm the moron!? You're the one who can't remember shit!"
"Calvin, Perlina, shut up..!" Wood raised his voice, and the two of them immediately went silent. "...I apologize. But, fighting will get us nowhere. We have to act immediately."
"What do we do...?" Ragna asked.
"What time did everyone see them last?"
"I saw them yesterday evening," Kenya spoke up. "They were in the Main Territory, but I thought Perlina was keeping an eye on them."
"I-" Perlina, about to defend herself, was cut off by Wood's glare alone.
"How close were they to the edge of the Main Territory?" Wood asked.
"They were, like, exactly on the edge."
"You didn't try to stop them?" Calvin growled.
"...She's a trainee." Jupiter sighed. "Not her job."
Wood took a deep breath in. "Settle down...now, Kenya, did you see them leave?"
She shook her head.
"Alright, and this was in the evening, correct?"
"Yeah."
"One more thing. Did anyone catch scent of any kind of predator? A cougar, or a bear, or something?"
No one said anything.
"Alright...we don't seem to have any proof that it was The Pack of the Fire...as no one caught any scent of them yesterday. If the kids travelled too far, it's very likely they just got lost and went to sleep somewhere in the forest. Although this seems most likely, we need to be prepared for something like...them actually getting kidnapped. So, if we don't find them tomorrow, we may have to invade The Pack of the Fire, although this is much more risky than usual, because of...Daruk." Wood shuddered.
"We'll probably find them out there somewhere...I wouldn't worry too much about it." Roscoe shrugged.
"Mhmm. Any questions...?" Wood asked.
The pack was silent.
"Alright, then...I need about five or six of you to volunteer to look for them. Who wants to?"
"I'll go..." Calvin offered.
"So will I," Ragna spoke up."
"If she's going, I am." Roscoe flattened his ears.
