"The ocean is so pretty!" Evelyn stared at the sight before the two trainees in awe.
"Yeah! Can you believe they let us come here by ourselves?"
"Y'know? Being taken to this pretty place when ya kick the bucket doesn't sound so bad," Evelyn mentioned.
"Think so?"
"Yeah! 'Course, our deaths ain't for a looooong time, but The Pack of the Stars pickin' you up from here sounds pretty cool."
"Mhmm."
"...Loki, can you promise me something...?" Evelyn turned to face her.
"Sure, what's up?"
"...If you're still around when I die...remember me, and don't let anyone else forget about me?"
"Whaaaaaat? I'd never forget you! You're practically my sister!" She nuzzled Evelyn. "I won't forget about you, and if anyone ever does, they're gonna have to hear it from me!"
"Thanks, Loki! And I'll do the same for you, if you go out first."
"Thanks! You're my best friend, Evelyn, I'd do anything for you."
"I can say the same."
Loki cuddled up next to Evelyn as they watched the sunset, without a care in the world.

Now, Loki stood at the very same spot she did that faithful summer day. Only this time, Evelyn was gone. She, Daruk, Misa, Keaton, Kiara, and Kenya were all there to say their final goodbyes to their dear friend. Wood so badly wanted to come with them, but his duties got in the way of it.
"Why does she have to go...?" Kenya sniffled. Keaton pulled her close. "She'll never leave us, as long as we never forget her."
Loki couldn't even glance at Evelyn's corpse. It hurt her too much to look at the lifeless body of her soul sister.
"Are we ready to send her off...?" Daruk asked, in a shaky voice.
"It's so hard to say goodbye..." Misa whimpered. She pressed her pelt against Daruk's.
"Remember...it's not really a goodbye." Kiara sighed. "We'll see her again. Just not in this life."
"Can we bring her back, if there's any way...?" Kenya asked.
"I'm so sorry, sweetheart." Kiara sighed. "But your mother is going to be with The Pack of the Stars."
"But I want her to be with The Pack of the Earth," she sniffled.
Loki's heart shattered as she saw Kenya sobbing into Keaton's pelt. Although she wasn't as close with her mother as her and Evelyn were, but she remembered how it felt when Loki lost her mother, and couldn't imagine how Kenya must have felt, especially at such a young age.
"Come on, everyone." Loki tried her best to smile. "Evelyn wouldn't want us to be all depressed here. She'd want us to look back on her life with a smile."
"You're right." Misa smiled tearfully. "This isn't want she would want at all..."
"Yeah. Let's just look back on the memories we had with her before we send her off..." Keaton smiled.
Loki closed her eyes for a moment and let the world around her fade away. The only thing on her mind was memories of the past with her dear friend Evelyn.
For once, she didn't focus on the negative. Evelyn had a great life. She had plenty of friends, she had an amazing mate, a sweet daughter who will clearly go far in life, and was well-respected. Evelyn was happy. Loki was happy for her, that she lived such a great life. She was loved by everyone, and would never be forgotten. Loki wouldn't let anyone forget her, as she promised.
