“How dense do you have to be to not realize that you’re in love with someone? How stupid am I?” I ask, Rae as we walk into yet another store. I think this one is TJMAXX not really sure.
“You’re not stupid by any means Sky. I’d just say maybe preoccupied. You have been kind of busy.”
“Yeah I was busy stomping all over his heart. How much pain did I put him through? First with Dylan, and then with Ethan. I’m an awful person.”
“You are not. Stop being so negative. I will smack you. What are you going to do now that you know?” I shrug my shoulders at her.
“I don’t know. I think I’m going to let things go like they are for now. Take them one day at a time.”
“That’s very smart of you. So, are you going to buy something today or not?” She asks looking down at my empty hands.
“I don’t know my brain hasn’t been keen on shopping today.” I tell her dryly. Still I go through glancing at the racks not really paying attention. I’m not really in the mood to shop. After a little while of browsing I still haven’t found anything. I lazily walk over to Rae.
“Still haven’t found anything?”
“Nope.” I mumble.
“Don’t sound so happy.” She says rolling her eyes at me.
“I’m sorry I have other things on my mind.” I tell her.
“Would you be happier if Gage was here?”
“I don’t know… Maybe I would.” I tell her sarcastically.
“Your wish is my command.” I frown at her words.
“What are you talking about?” I question her.
“Hey did ya’ll miss me?” I turn at the sound of Gage’s words.
“Gage!”
“Someone did.” Rae says dryly.
“Shut up Rae.” I hiss at her.
“Aww, Babe did you miss me?” Gage asks walking over and putting his arm around me. I lean into him.
“Me, what? Of course not… It’s just. I didn’t feel much like shopping.” I lie.
“Okay, whatever makes you happy.” He tells me, smiling down at me.
“You know what would make me happy?” Rae asks drawing our attention.
“No please by all means tell us.” Gage says smiling at her.
“Hot Topic!”
“Okay that I can so agree to.” I tell her as we walk towards the checkout for her to pay for her items.
“You haven’t found you anything?” Gage asks looking down at my empty hands.
“Not yet.” I tell him, wrapping my arm around his waist. He smiles leaning down to kiss the top of my head. “Did you get your cleats?”
“I did.” He says holding up his bags. “And a few more things.” The conversation dies a little as we reach the counter.
“Hey Sugar, how are you?” I look up at the voice.
“Oh God not you.” I say out loud.
“You’re the one who hit me in the face with a piece of paper!” She screeches, and I smile.
“That would be me. Sorry that it did some damage.”
“What are you talking about it didn’t even hurt.” She snorts.
