Love Isn't Always A Fairy Tale {Teacher/Student Romance}

Chapter 1- Back To School

I pull up into the school parking lot on the first day in my 2012 hot pink Mazda Miata. The first day of the last year, needless to say I am excited! I see a familiar Silverado in the parking lot and know that Gage and Raeghyn are already here. They are my best friends. Raeghyn and I have known each other since kindergarten. Gage moved here in 5th grade and we all hit it off from the start and have been best friends ever since. Connected at the hip inseparable… Well most of the time.

I shake my head to chase the thoughts away. Today is going to be a good day. I get out my little car and grab my book bag, and smooth down the skirt of my dress. I am not overtly feminine (okay I do have a pink car, but that’s b/c they couldn’t get the blue one by my birthday.) I wear makeup but not a lot, but I love dresses. Dresses and flip flops. I own probably 30 pairs of shoes, and half of those are flip flops. I especially love the cotton jersey dresses. They are comfortable, and show off my nice tan as Raeghyn put it, as she picked out my outfit yesterday.

Today I am wearing a bright blue cotton dress that comes a little above my knees, and a pair of white gladiator type sandals with a small white flower on them. I walk towards the main entrance of the school. I walk in and take a look around before going to my locker. Not much has changed, and when I say not much I mean basically nothing. I open my locker and hear my name being called.

“Skylar!!!” I look up to see Raeghyn and her red hair (at least she didn’t dye It.) walking towards me. She is wearing some really cute black skinny jeans with a white and black long tank top with a black vest over that, and black flats. She looked really cute.

I see Gage behind her. He looked the same with his dark brown hair and blue eyes. Today he was wearing a turquoise-ish Hollister shirt and blue jeans. The shirt was tight enough that you could see some of his muscles through it. Yeah Gage has muscles, he also plays baseball, basketball, runs track, and is actually really smart. Yeah and he is best friends with 2 girls. Yeah I know what you’re thinking he has got to be gay right? Well…. Wrong he is extremely straight.

Now you’re wondering why I’ve never hooked up with him right… Well it’s never been that way between us. He is and always will be just my friend. My best guy friend, that’s it bottom line, underline, and bold print.

“Hey Rae! Hey Gage!” I say giving them both a quick hug. “Rae you look really cute.” I tell her while opening my locker.

“Thanks Sky you do too as usual.” She tells me with a laugh I roll my eyes at her.

“Hey what about me?” Gage asks pretending to be hurt. We both laugh and I twist my head around to look at him. Pushing my long wavy blonde hair behind my shoulders.

“Aw Gage you look very handsome.” I tell him touching his arm briefly.

“Well thank you for noticing.” He says smiling at himself while going to open his locker.

“Watch out his head is going to get bigger.” Raeghyn mutters under her breath. I start giggling and we both glance at Gage to see if he had heard.  The glare he gave us told us he indeed had. Now Rae and I are both laughing uncontrollably.

“Oh whatever you too just laugh it up. HaHaHa.” He says before laughing himself.

“I’m sorry Gage I couldn’t help it.” Rae says as we stop laughing.

“Yeah besides from what everybody says it could do to be a little bigger.” I say and Rae and I burst out laughing again. This time Gage does look a little angry.

“Hey Sky low blow now that isn’t fair.” He says crossing his arms over his chest. This only causes us to laugh more.

“I’m sorry Gage I couldn’t help it.” I tell him when we finally calm down and straighten up.

“Yeah me too Gage I’m sorry too, but that was funny and you know it.” Raeghyn tells him as she shuts her locker. He smiles just a little.

“Yeah I admit Sky that was a little funny. You got me on that one.” He says as the bell rings. We separate to go to our homerooms. We have always had different home rooms which is a little strange, but they probably done that on purpose.

“Okay bye Whore!” Raeghyn yells at me as she starts going down 1st hall.

“Bye Slut!” I yell back a couple of other girls turn around and look which is freaking hilarious.

“I seriously need new friends.” Gage calls out at us going down 3rd hall. Me and Rae just laugh and wave bye. As I head down 2nd hall. Yeah they got us on different halls too. They are good. As I start around the corner to go down the hallway I run into something hard, and drop my books.

“Dammit.” I mutter as I bend down to pick up my books.

“I’m sorry.” I hear from in front of me as I see someone else bend down as well and start picking up my books.

“No it’s okay it’s my fault I wasn’t-“I stop as I look up and into the eyes of this gorgeous guy. I mean GORGEOUS. He has this brownish blonde hair that it looks like he just fixed by running his hands through, and these amazing… I don’t know what to call them hazel eyes. They are brown except near the pupils where they are a vibrant green. He is… well I can’t come up with words right now. I realize I have stopped talking and am now staring. He is just looking at me and smiling.

“Umm I wasn’t looking where I was going. I’m sorry.” I say standing up with my books in hand. Well half of them because he still had half of them.

“That’s quite alright Miss...” He stops lifting his eyebrows at me. I realize that he wants to know my name duh.

“Skylar… Skylar Evans.” I say as he gives me back my books. Our hands briefly touch. I feel a jolt go through my body at his touch.

“Well it’s nice to meet you Skylar.” He says as he gives me the last of my books.

“Yeah it was good running into you…” I say stopping because I don’t know his name.

“Ethan.” He finishes for me smiling down at me. I say down because he has to have at least a whole foot on me. I am 5’ 1” and he has to be at least 6’. I feel like a midget against him. I smile at the thought.

“Well Ethan, as I said it was nice running into you, but I better get going.” I say as I start to go around him.

“Yes of course.” He says turning to his side so I can go by him. I walk down the hall until I hear his voice calling my name.

“Skylar.” I love the way he says my name. I turn to look at him my eyebrows raised. “Hope to run into you again.” He says with a smile. His smile sends a shiver down my spine.

“Anytime.” I tell him smiling back. He winks at me before turning around and walking away. I turn and hurry to make it to class on time. I make it in just as the bell rings. Man I’m good….
