Light of my life

I know I said I didn't want love but I found a guy,

He won my heart with a smile,

He was perfect and he was kind,

He made me forget myself,

And taught me how to smile,

Even made me think I was pretty some of the times;

But deep down I think he did it out of pity.

Either way,

I loved him,

And he loved me more;

But over time he started to become a bore,

He had my heart but I wanted to explore.

We were young, already thinking of growing old,

Time went by and the sparks froze,

The ship sunk without as much as a warning smoke;

He still told me nice things but you could tell they were forced.

I was no longer enough for him but he didn't want to go,

Every time I looked at him, I could see the pity in his eyes,

So, I decided it was time;

And I ended things with tears in my eyes.

He was the light of my life,

And I had to say good bye.

One good thing came from the relationship though,

He gave me friends that refused to let go.
